Dragon Age II has a 3.4/10 on Metacritic, WHY!?

Does anyone have any explanation for this?
The vast majority of negative reviews are from silly fanboys.
While I'm sure there are some legitimately negative reviews in the pile, the average would otherwise in no way be that low. I'm about 4 hours into it, and it's a blast. I know plenty of other people who are farther that me and are also having a great time.

The game is good, ignore the hijacking of meta-critic.

Hold on a second, plenty of console gamers have complained that auto-attack is off for them now (although they can just change it in the options I believe).
There's no auto-attack on consoles at all. BioWare "lost" [http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6395493&lf=8] the "autoattack file" and the option might be patched in at some later point.
Yeah, that's a bummer. I was planning on playing as an archer with auto-attack first and then a dual-wielding rogue without auto-attack. I guess I'll do the latter first now and wait for the patch until I go as an archer or mage (I don't see ranged attacks being as good without auto for some reason, and my play through the demo confirmed that).

user reviews shuold be taken with a grain of salt. because most people who post negative reviews are buthurt about somthing (whaaa my rpg elements is "dumed down" whaaa) and from there they dont enjoy the game and start finding other stupid problems. the thing about it being too linear has some founding in that the main story goes through a set path and dragon age orgins didnt (the recrutment of the races is nonlinear) and it being bland is only at the begining when you dont know the charicters or why you shuold care about them but once people spend more than 5hrs to base their reviews on dragon age 2 is worth the price paid.

*sigh*
People just fail to grasp how numeric rating systems work. You're supposed to individually place something on the spectrum and vote that number, not look at the results of others voting and vote either a zero or ten to sway the numbers as much as possible. -.-

In this case, its prolly a group of angry people who decided to raid the metactitic score rather than calmly discuss their problems, write them out, and present them to Bioware and/or the fanbase for more backing.

This is the extremely loud extremely minority of drudgery fetishists that liked everything that was wrong with DA:O and therefore hate that any of it was fixed.

You can see this same behavior looking at any Morrowind vs. Oblivion thread. You will see an oddly large group of people come in and post about what a piece of shit Oblivion was because of fast travel, shops allowing you to sell everything to them at a limited price instead of having to wait three weeks to offload your inventory due to limited $, being able to cast spells with a button instead of having to hold your hands out with no weapon, etc.

Not that I'm saying there is no legitimate criticism here, I'm just saying that this entire group is more or less illegitimate. Once you realize what's going on, you'll know it when you see it and to just ignore these nutjobs.

Holy shit.

The critic scores have a rating of like 82-83/100.

But the user reviews put it right now at a 2.8/10!! The hell is everyone so pissed about?! First glance it looks like a bunch of people are calling it "dumbed down" from its old RPG elements. I haven't played it so I wouldn't know but I do know the Mass Effect series' combat was heavily improved when moving closer to an action game than an RPG.
its just a bunch of pissed off elitist PC gamers who are angry that their game was "dumbed down" so more people could enjoy it.
So the same crowd who grumbled at Bethesda for adding fast travel to Morrowind. Can't say I'm surprised.
Exactly.

I have been playing and would give it a 8/10. I do dislike the conversation wheel. And i do miss playing a dwarf. All in all it is a solid game IMO.

It IS a user review.

I personally like the changes,
but I do still find the combat to be mind-numbingly slow and for the most part uninvolved.
Which kind of takes me out of caring about much, it's still a good game though.

What's more shocking is that they apparently make a bad game every time, as the same thing happened when Dragon Age:Origins came out as well as Mass Effect 2, the reaction on the Bioware forums at least (which is a lot worse than Meta-Critic).

The first game was 'too hard', and now they've changed the difficulty, they're bitching again. These people aren't worth listening to; they're practically bipolar, or just love having something to complain about (hipster scum).

Looks like what happened was that they fundamentally changed the way the game played. Developers were able to get away with that with Fallout 3 because Fallout 2 was, like, ten years old. However, you pull the same thing with a game that was released last year, there's still enough of the old fan base around to feel cheated. The reviewers are pretty happy with the overall quality of the game, it seems, but they're there to rank it objectively on technical merit, not on whether or not has anything to do with the brand.

Good thing I didn't buy it. Looks like I won't need to wait long for it to drop to $20 bargain bin territory.

Yup. So much for the whole "Bioware can do no wrong" attitude.

It's not a bad game at all. It's not the greatest game ever, its not even as good as Dragon Age: Origins, but if I can play a game from 11PM to 5AM and keep wanting more, then I enjoy it. Why are the internet trolls so up in arms about this game? I have a few ideas.

1. They think they are being witty critics who get off on satisfying their inner yatzhee.
2. They simply hate the massive video game conglomerate that is EA.
3. They hate how similar to Mass Effect it is, which makes some people think that because a game isn't original, it musn't be fun.

And no, I am not saying everyone who gives Dragon Age 2 is like this, but I think its foolish to say that there is no one like this on metacritic. Don't like the game? Fine, don't buy it. I'll play it for you.

Pfft. The game's been out for, what, 36 hours? I'll be the first to say I was underwhelmed by the demo, but the game proper is pretty fun. Amazing graphics, even without DX11. Good voice acting. The story itself isn't as compelling as DAO, but the epic scale of DAO is a hard one to follow.

Gamers seem incapable of anything between the extremes of "BEST GAME EVR!!!" or " HAS BETRAYED ALL THAT IS GOOD!!!!" So far, DA2 has been a pleasant waste of two solid evenings for me, for the price of a dinner at a mid-range restaurant. But I'll reserve final judgement until I've finished playing it.

It's possible, but DA2 isn't it.

The game itself is fine. If you liked DA1, you'll like this.

EDIT: Been playing the game for the past few hours. Now it all makes sense as to why people hate it so much. It's shit, plain and simple. Bioware didn't even try to fix anything other than the dialog.

While yeah they're just bombing the score to make an immature statement, I have to agree that I fucking HATE the dialog wheel.

Kills the immersion for me by having my finely crafted character spewing stuff that doesn't fit my image of the character. At least in DA:O what the character says is laid out in full and not just a thought bubble.
