So a little background,
Way back when if you saw my thread I was having trouble running Fallout: New Vegas, the problem ended up being that I needed to upgrade my operating system. Long story short everything that wasn't connected to my steam cloud was gone, aggravatingly I had just engaged The Archdemon, I was totally devastated so I couldn't bring myself to redo my game.
I was going to pick up Dragon Age 2 but then I was informed you can import your save.
Being a longtime Bioware fan I know the advantages of having an imported save, and more importantly the disadvantages of not having one.
I've heard of a site you can download saves but I really need to have the personal feeling of my own game.

I'm at the Mage's tower and I'm preparing a marathon to finish it, that's at least 30+ hours until the end.
Now what does The Escapist think, any strategies or general advice on finishing a marathon, I want to be done before Dragon Age 2.

Thanks in advance.

Don't overexert yourself. If you feel like stopping then stop or else by the time DA2 comes out you'll be sick of playing it :/

you know the story, if you're making the same decisions skip through the dialogue as much as possible, it'll cut your playtime down massively.

If you didn't want to playthrough the game but wanted to import of save you probably could've just downloaded a save file with all of the choices you made.
That's what I did when I rebought Mass Effect 2 for my PC.

Cancel plans to interact with humanity. I'm in sort of the same position except much farther through but I want to get through Awakenings so yeah. I'd also recommend doing Orzammar last. It seems easier that way.

But I'm going to assume that you've played it before so ignore romancing and as many unnecessary side-quests as possible. They may be fun, but if you really wanna breeze through this, you can't put as much effort in, trust me. Try to level up as quickly as possible through using the hold command in order to make the harder battles basically 'cake'.
Also going from the Mage's tower, to the ashes, to the werewolves and then either Redcliffe or Orzimmar seems to be a good order.
Good luck!

If you have the PC version, get the fade mod where is skips the fade section of the mage's tower and gives you all the exp and stat boosts that you would have obtained naturally. That section was almost as painful as the Orzimar section.

Try and go through the Mage Tower ASAP...

Just so you can get the bullshit Fade part out of the way early (and the free stat bonuses would be pretty helpful i guess)

I prefer the personal touch of a save I've played through myself.

Has it been said what exactly gets transfer over? I heard it was just who you put up as ruler, and who your warden was. I was debating if I wanna do a run for DA2 since I always put the chick as queen since alister is kinda an annoying douche.

Firstly, count yourself lucky that you have the free time to do that. Those days are mostly just a happy memory for me (I hate college essays).

As for actual advice, have you made sure you're playing on easy? I bet it would cut down on your playing time immensely. And if possible you should check exactly what is carried over into the second game and only do the things that matter.
