The graphics where really shitty for me on PC when I first played Dragon Age, so I went into the settings and set it to high and it didn't make much difference, the only thing that made me play the game more was the mods that people put they're heart and soul into making

The combat was a bit cluster-fucked cause all the other characters kept getting in the sodding way stealing all the XP, leaving my character in the shits cause they wasn't lvling up

In order to hear the wisecracks and the gags, I had to run past a certain check point and if I didn't run past it with the right people in my party, I got a load of silence, as if the game was throwing a tantrum and if I didn't run through that check point for the entire game, the something weird would happen in the next fight like the characters walk animation would fail and they'd all glide along like bumpable bleeding ghosts

That said and done, EA are money eating zombies that are feeding off our brains.....and our wallets

And our Office just trounces your boring escapades.
There's your problem. It was SUPPOSED to be boring. It was taking the piss of the boring and dreary British office workplace. Trust America to think something's too boring, and think it needs to be un-boring.

Man, Bioware's Canadian.
Oh, well i sincerely apologize for my ignorance. Canada, I hope you never make anything related to American accented Dwarves ever again.
And America, I and two friends still hold our war threat.

I liked the games mechanics, a throwback to the Knights of the Old Republic era but the story was terrible, I just found it too cliche and contrived. Looking forward to the second game though. Hopefully we can get a good story with some originality next time.

*Looks at time played*

Well, I've got over 100 hours played on it. It's not boring and is reminiscent of, although no where near as good as, Baldur's Gate.
Why would I carry on playing a game where the first few hours bore me to the point I thought I was becoming retarded?

I didn't think the graphics were that bad, sure they're not as good as say, Mass Effect 2, but I wouldn't really think of it as much of an issue. Now the gameplay being boring as hell, that's an issue...
The graphics are dire. The graphics for MS2 are far better, but again, not very good compared to what they should be. As I said, the game has such low spec's it could have easily been released mid 2006 - early 2007 and be maxed out.

I loved it. The graphics sucked, but that wasn't what I played it for. It was really fun and addicting. I can't play it anymore because I did 2 or 3 playthroughs and am tired of it, but it was worth the 60 bucks. The DLC on the other hand....

I thought it was ok. Not great, but not terrible either, I only played a few hours worth but I enjoyed it. I particularly liked what they did with elves, making them a down-trodden ethnic group in a world of humans.
My biggest gripe is that it was always plugged as being a particularly dark RPG. It wasn't really, certainly no darker than Oblivion.

I think it's a great game. It has one of the best character sets in any game ive ever played. Alistair and Morrigan are brilliant together. The storyline is brilliant and frankly, who doesn't want to play a game that has the possibility of the player character participating in a possible foursome with an elf, a female ship captain and a fit french bard. Graphics are a bit disappointing though.

I really enjoyed it, expect it did get repetitive at times.
I can see how people really dislike it.

Absolutely despised it. If it were a country I would've declared war on it by now.
Awful story I didn't care about, boring and disgusting looking game world, none too good graphics, and the talking, my dear God the TALKING. Fucking overdone. Yes, nice voice acting, I understand that, stop forcing me to listen to it! I want to play a game! Also, AMERICAN DWARVES. America.... just, no. This is too far. You've fucked up our Red Dwarf, our Life on Mars, our The Office, and now our Dwarves. You take the Inbetweeners and shitify it and me and two of my friends have vowed to declare war on you personally. /rant
The gameplay was significantly better than the rest of the game in that it was just alright. I liked the way it seemed like WoW, but condensed for the Xbox 360 controller.
It sounds to me like you need a hug and a firm slap on the wrist.

I want to go out on a limb and say the 2400 ms point add on would add the technical color to the gameplay with new abilities or whatever but Ill be damned if I have to put anymore money after paying the 69.99 plus tax.

Now you know why no one bitched about borderlands dlc? Because they whipped their balls out and sold their game on launch for 39 bucks, so when you buy a couple of dlc packs you're still under what a new game costs entirely. they had the best game release and dlc model ever imo,

Not when it comes to graphics. All it comes down to is what hardware runs it, and with DA:O, archaic gpu's could run it.
Either way, this was one of many problems I found with the game. To be honest, if you want that style of gameplay, go play WoW. At least you play with other people rather then dealing with AI.

Most people, myself included, think you're flat out wrong about the majority of that. I liked the game, and the only real point I see is older graphics. I will give you that, however graphics are the number one thing that most gamers are willing to sacrifice, if it means more strengths elsewhere. Personally, I liked it better then Mass Effect.

It wasn't bad; it wasn't great. The characters and conversations were the high point. Sadly, the visuals sucked (for lack of a better word), the story was a bit cliché, and the gameplay was uninteresting. It was suitably expansive in terms of scope, but the lack of a free world hindered it somewhat.

There's rumours that they're going to make their own Doctor Who...

America, You've got House. That's the best TV doctor anyone could ever ask for. Why do you need Who as well?

OT: I considered getting it, until I looked at gameplay footage and realised that It was just Mass Effect, but not as good. I didn't even like Mass Effect too much...

I loved it. The combat seemed good enough to me. Maybe it depends on the class, but I was fine with my mage. The lack of voice for the main character did bug me, but the conversation system is fine. The lack of a traditional Good/Bad meter makes choices more interesting, as I don't feel the need to make a perfectly good or evil character, I can just pick the option I would choose. And it even has one thing over Mass Effect: a different button for skipping lines and for choosing options. In ME I accidentally chose the default option too often when I wanted to skip a line. And I couldn't care less about graphics, as long as the characters aren't all stickmen I'm fine with it.

So, that's my opinion.

the conversation menu. What possessed bioware to take a step backwards and use a generic and resultantly bad conversation system over their innovative mass effect conversation menu?
I just had to quote out this bit, because it's the bit I most strongly disagree with. I feel that Mass Effects 'conversation wheel' has done more than any RPG mechanic so far to take choice OUT of the game. Instead of 2-6 options that actually let you know what you're going to say and let you say it with actual nuance, Mass Effect gives you 3 options. One's an asshole, the other is noncommittal, and the third is a generally nice guy. Occasionally you get access to a SUPER OPTION which just resolves dialogue in your favour, whether nicely or assholishly. Instead of actually picking a reasonable option, you pick the top middle or bottom option depending on your character, without having to think about it, and watch a little cutscene. It's no surprise to me that Mass Effect is possibly the most linear Bioware RPG I've ever played, with all of your choices thoroughly abstracted and offscreened. For example, take every single character recruitment mission in Mass Effect 2. There's no possible room for variation, there's no choice, just a linear sequence of events from point A to B. Absolutely nothing you as a player can do to affect it. Whether Shepard is a diplomat or an asshole, the actual game plays out in precisely the same way.

For a counterexample, take the wide range of choices offered in curing Connors possession in Dragon Age. There's at least 3 different outcomes I can think of, offered to you through Dragon Ages dialogue, which allows you to have far, far more input than the dialogue wheel which gives you only a hint of what might be said, and never allows any real, on screen choice. (unless you've collected enough goodguy/asshole points and can unlock the FLASHY RED/BLUE option, which there is never ANY good reason not to pick if available, as it always resolves the situation in an optimal manner.

Sorry for the incoherence in advance. I realise that's a little rambly and not easy to read.
