Dragon*Con 2009?

Okay, I was reading in Maxim today and I saw a little box talking about "the largest convention that is based around Scifi, fantasy, gaming, and comics," and I started to think, well that sounds fun. I've never been to a Scifi convention (or any convention) before and this sounds like it would be a great time, but I'd like to know what my fellow Escapists think of it.

So I ask you, Escapist, have you ever been to a Dragon*Con before? What was it like? Should I go this year? Are you going this year? Or have you been to any conventions before?

I'm not a fan of Maxim at all. I [b/]was[/b] subscribed to EGM but when they went out of business or whatever, they sent me this Maxim and I was bored so I decided to read it.

I have burned a few Maxim's before. Once again, I was bored.

I've been to one convention in my life. Some weird Finnish anime convention. I honestly don't watch any anime or read any manga, so I pretty much went there after my friends because I was bored. I actually tried that cosplay thingy. Dressed up as a Finnish cartoon character and put together suit in like 15 minutes. Got really good feedback.
