Ain't the first time I've asked for some guidance on this game. Probably won't be the last...
I'm thinking of trying to get back into it, seeming as my summer holidays leave me with a surplus of free time.
Firstly, I need to know whether that save-corrupting glitch a while back has been patched. It came with the update they did when Dark Arisen came out, practically guaranteed if you played online (which you would need to in order to take full advantage of the pawn system) your save game was going to become corrupted. Of course, if it hasn't been fixed yet, then there's little point in me playing it again until it is.
Secondly, as I tend to do with a lot of RPGs I come back to after a long absence, I plan on starting fresh. I'm not quite sure what class to go with, though. It helps, of course, that the class system is so flexible, but it's still a bit of a pain to have to get new gear and all that. One of the main two points is that I don't want enemies to be able to simply run away. That irritated me sometimes, in particular with bandits, where they'd keep running away, too fast for a fighter character to properly give chase.
Then there's being able to fight enemies that can't be harmed with physical attacks. I ran into problems when I encountered ghosts as a fighter and a strider, it seemed only my mage could kill them. I don't want to depend on my mage enchanting my blade, I want to be able to fight them myself.
Yet I don't want to go completely as a mage. My tendency to want to charge in ensures that wouldn't go well, and I don't want party healing duties to fall to me either.
The obvious choice, it would seem, would be A magick archer. I tried mystic knight before, but my ranged/magick option mostly required switching to the staff, which interrupted the flow of combat for me. I've tried strider and ranger before, and enjoyed it thoroughly. With a magick bow, I could attack from afar and attack phantoms and the like without having to interrupt my flow to navigate the menu. AND I'd have the ability to use a staff if I wanted it.
However, my first tries with dragon's dogma weren't exactly...expert, so I thought I'd see if I could get better players to give their opinion.
So, to sum up, I want some advice on what class to go with, and some advice on whether the game has been fixed yet. Thanks.
