Hey escapists, I'm just looking for a bit of advice. I've decided it's finally time to pick up Dragon's Dogma as it looks like everything I'm into. However, I can't decided which console to get it on: My preference is for Xbox as I like the pad more (and I've heard the surface textures are a little better in this instance), however I would only be able to do any of the online slave trading if I got it on Play Station. Just wondering what folk's in put on the subject might be!

My first playthrough of the game was offline while my second was online. There is no difference. You get NPC pawns offline that act exactly like the online ones (there are less child like barely clothed girls offline). You get more Rift Crystals online. So it is a toss-up.

The texture bit was most likely referring to the recent expansion Dark Arisen.
The PS3 Dark Arisen has one disc, and the game looks the same as before.
The 360 Dark Arisen has 2-3 discs. If you play the game without installing the additional texture disc, the game will look similar to an N64 game.

Other than that, there is no real difference. Well the Ur-Dragon will be comparatively weaker on the 360 since people haven't been killing it as long, but that could well be a bonus honestly.

If you prefer the 360 controller (as I do myself) then I would suggest getting it for the 360.

Regarding the last bit, what do you mean?
You can use online pawns and rent your own pawn out on both systems.

Another note if you haven't already bought it, there's some technical differences. The 360 has no v-sync, and has a lot of screen tearing (if you played RE5 on the 360, then you're familiar with the amount). However, the framerate is a little higher for it. Also, the 360 has AO or some technique that makes the darker areas more dark and the shadows more pronounced.

On the PS3, there's V-sync that prevents the tearing, but the framerate hovers between 20-25 quite often. Also, it's a lot brighter and "washed out" looking. However, it's all on one disc and you don't need to disk swap.

So it's a choice between 30 FPS/screen tearing/darker caves/disc-swapping, and 20-30 FPS/no screen tearing/brighter washed-outness/one disc. I'm partial to the PS3 version myself, though I really wish it had that darker look that the 360 does. Makes having the lantern more essential.
