I despised Half-Life 2 before I played it, simply because of the crusade the fanboys were waging against inferior stuff like Halo (you know, I met one on the ZP review of Halo: Reach who pretty much admitted he considered Halo fans to be chimpanzees - I hope he was a troll). I know the bad side of the Halo fanbase are supposedly 12 year olds who scream into mics and think Halo invented everything, but the bad side of the Half-Life fanbase is a collection of elitist and superior pricks. Not because their opinions are wrong or that i disagree with them. In cases like Valve i agree with a few fanboys. However, it is the force that fanboys aggressively attack with. Everyone has personal, alternate, and sometimes correct opinions that will not always agree with our own, but fanboys are all blind to that simple truth. They are all hypocrites, period.
Before i go on a longer rant, i think i might have already, all fanboys are the trolls and troll bait of the internet universe.
By the way, i do not think that you are a fanboy. I do not know you well enough to form any opinion, yet....

Yeah, that was a rant too. Ah well, I suppose every fanbase has its bad eggs. We should probably just ignore them...

As to your question: I define a "fanboy" of a game roughly as someone who adores the game in question and is willing to defend it to the metaphorical death. If the game has flaws, a fanboy is either willing to ignore them or it is the polarising kind of "flaw" which half of those to have played the game hate, and the other half love (see: the Mako in Mass Effect).
