Righto, so I'm looking to learn how to draw (design/project reasons and all that) and I'm looking for books/websites/resources. Something to start me off.

The thing is I'm aiming for a style in the vein of Mega Man:

Any recommendations on where to look would appreciated.

Fair warning: I'm not a great artist.

But I have found the How to Draw Manga series interesting and informative.

How to Draw Manga: Getting started

How to Draw Manga: Giant Robots

As some of the first books devoted to the subject to make it to western shores, many of the books in the series are available at public libraries (or at least, they have been at libraries I've been to.)

Christopher Hart has also written many books on the subject, but I tend to find his work rather oversimplified and stylistically uninspiring. He's kind of a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none sort of situation; he's written on everything from western-style cute cartoon animals to fantasy stock characters, which may contribute to his manga characters not looking quite authentic to my eyes.

Actually I would say the books by Christopher Hart offer a great way to get started. The oversimplified style might just be what he needs. If I had no previous knowledge of drawing, I wouldn't consider drawing artwork that looks like Zone of the Enders, that might be what I want to get to eventually, but not how I want to start. Besides, he said he wants Megaman, which is far from complex.

Christopher Hart also has a verity of articles and "basic" tutorials on his website. The Books are more in depth though.
