dont do it. if you have red or brown hair it will look like over sized yarn is coming out of ur scalp. if you have brown or blonde hair it will look like u haven't cleaned it in years.

and if you do not appear to be black or Latino don't do it either. it just looks bad on everyone else.

Ok, so at the moment I'm in the middle of growing my hair, it's taking a while but it's getting there, I've toyed with the idea of getting dreadlocks when it's long enough, and after asking some friends for advice I've gotten replys ranging from 'Yeah it'll look good' to 'don't be ridiculous, dreads look stupid on white people' (that was a genuine reply from one of my friends) so I pose this question to the escapists: What do you think of Dreadlocks, do they look good, or do you hate them?

Also, if someone could tell me how to stick pictures in posts, I'll upload one of myself so you can judge whether Dreads would suit me or not
You're the guy who wanted to spike his beard too, right?

You no doubt think that it's a great stab at 'the man' or 'mainstream' but there is a reason people don't have dreads or do crazy shit with their beards and it's not because they're being conformists, it's because they'd look like crazy unkempt hobos if they did.

I hope you make the right choice and don't get dreads.
Yeahs thats me

Firstly it's just a goatee not a full beard, secondly, it's nothing to with taking a stab at 'the man' or 'mainstream', it just happens to be a hair and goatee style I like, glad we cleared that one up

I was interested in this myself a few years ago.

I didn't bother because my research turned up bullshit about "buy our products to maintain your dreadlocks and keep them clean!" or end up with dirty dreadlocks that can actually split open like a twinkie and ooze a sweaty accumulation of grease and dirt.

Then there's bullshit about getting thin dreads or thick, thin dreads are harder to dread, they can fall back to normal easily, and thick dreads can get too heavy and get filled with the aforementioned accumulation, unless you wash constantly, something like 2 or 3 times. Thick dreads are easier to damage, so washing them is hard.

You have to ask yourself; You wanna look like this?

Here's a little quiz to determine whether dreadlocks are right for you.

a) Are you black with naturally Afro-textured hair?
b) Are you Rastafarian?

If neither of those describe you, you'll look like a jackass.

Not unless your 100% sure on it - I know someone who has got them and he had to go like 3 weeks or so without washing his hair to get them in. And if you decide it isn't worth it you'll have to cut it all off making your growing efforts all for nothing

I do not like Dreadlocks on anybody. i think they just look way too messy. I hate messy. If you can get the look down without it looking all tangled and stuff, it might just work. Maybe.
