Just for the record, I have VERY vivid dreams.
I dreamt I had a battle against this guardian to the skies. She was a statue at first, but as I neared, her outer stony flesh began to break up and fall from her human skin. The only part of her body that the stone flesh didnt fall off was her face, which retained its peaceful and serene features. She dropped down from an archway that was carved into the walls and as she hit the ground she released this small grip that looked like it was broken from a sword or something.
I remember seeing the attack because time slowed down for me to evade it. There were tiny glints appearing in the air around her, and they extended about 20 meters in a wave pattern. I saw fire-golden filament strip through the air towards me. It was a kind of whip where the tail was near invisible. The chamber we were in began to shake, and a light poured in from above, growing larger and larger.
The guardian continued her unwavering assault, but it seemed to me that I was endowed with the gift of godlike reflexes. As the light above us grew, her attacks became more frenzied. I was practically going through an assault course, jumping, sliding, and rolling my way away from each blow that neared. The whole room was lit up in with dancing lights, as she reached the peak of her attack.
She suddenly stopped the whipping, and remained still. A beam of light had shone through the heavens and cast her in stone once again. The ascent had slowed, and the make-shift elevator I was in, was now atop a great summit, between layers of clouds. As I stared out into the horizon, I noticed that beside me stood these human forms clad in elaborate armour, one person bearing a striking resemblance to Aspharr from Ninety Nine Nights.
The were all looking at the opposing horizon, which grew darker and darker. A great orb of raw darkness floated in the space between clouds. Before I could take in what I was seeing, sudden bursts of light began to pierce the horizon. I watched as these ethereal soldiers released spectral energies into the distance, holding off the approach of the dark orb. In retaliation, it opened up a massive eye, like a great maw, and began to strike back at us with strands of black light.
As they neared, they struck an invisible wall between the opposing forces. The knight that looked like Aspharr knelt down to me, and looked me in the eye. A thought entered my head, and I had immediately gained knowledge of my destiny. I began to bask in a gentle blue light. Hundreds of motes appeared around me and gathered on my body. Armour had begun to forge itself to my form. Aspharr stood back, and gathered the same motes of light around his lance.
He raised its blade to the skies, whereupon the heavens parted, and pillars of light shot down onto the tip of his lance. Great colours began to shift around the shaft and tip of the lance, until the intesity was of such power, that I could not see the weapon anymore. It was as though he was holding column of pure light. All the other beings stood back, and Aspharr readied himself. He tilted his body back, and threw the light directly into the eye of the orb.
Time began to slow for me again. I readied myself, in a type of crouching form, and I jumped with incredible speed towards the pillar of light. Spectral energy from the spirits behind me began to gather around me as a barrier. The arrow of light pierced the eye, and from its point of impact, light began to spread outwards, burning the eye in a white flame. I knew it would soon heal itself. I was being pushed faster and faster into the gaping chasm before me, and as the light from the impact began to clear, I saw within the orb a great void.
I passed through the eye as the flames began to receed. As i neared the center of the orb, I saw clockwork surrounding a point in space which wa surrounded by a latticed grid of white strands that enveloped a dark light. My consciousness shot outside the orb. A column of light shot through to the outside, followed by another and another. A great light erupted from within, separating the orb cleanly into two disconnected hemispheres. The outer flesh of the orb began to receed to their poles, like a popped balloon. When the outer flesh disappeared, everything in the cloudy void lit up in a great white light.
Suddenly, I felt the sensation of falling. I fell away from a great encroaching light, through cloud and sky. My vision blurred as I descended, and slowly, darkness began to fall over my eyes. I felt human again. Weighty and tired. It was then that I opened my eyes and found myself back in my bed.
