I have reoccurring dreams about my old schools. Every single time, no matter the plot of the dream, if I am in the school I usually get lost. And when I get lost I panic and then the dream turns into a nightmare unless I realize where I'm going.

Somewhat on topic.. I often do that in my dreams. "Realize". I realize I'm dreaming, realize I've been in a place before, realize that unless I do something to change the current course it'll turn into a nightmare, etc. And after that I am fairly decent at gaining control and even if I don't, as long as I realize, I can keep trying to wake myself up. (When I was younger I would often turn nightmare sequences into love scenes. o_O )

Anyone else have a pretty constant control or at least realization to try to control in their dreams?
Only once. I dreamt that my dad was that jaws guy from the bond film (octopussy?). Don't know why but suddenly I realised it was a bad dream. So I turned the background into my school where everyone was in their underpants except me and I was flying.

I have some issues...

I had a dream that went like this:

I was walking around a field, when a giant worm came out of the ground and started eating people. For some reason I knew the worm, and tried to talk him out of eating people. He wouldn't, so I took a pickle out of my backpack and stabbed the worm in the eye. The people of earth thanked me, and gave me a mountain of blue cheese to eat. I then won the lottery, and bought lots of cool stuff. However, looking at the cool stuff, I realized that it was actually really lame and all looked like it was made by a blind and drunk 2 year old. I realized only my subconcious was that dumb and woke up. I went to school, but something was wrong. I suddenly realized: My classmates don't normally sing and dance so much, there are no such things as indoor rainbows, and I don't remember the world being made of lego. I looked at my classmates closer, and realized they were lego minifigs. I looked at my hands, and sure enough they were lego minifig hands. I thought this was awesome, so I pulled my head off and attached the bit on the top to the hole on the bottom of my foot. Then I woke up for real.

Do I have problems?
no more than me. You'll be fine. Just... stay away from daisy's. Trust me.

Dream-

This is based on the most interesting dream I?ve ever had. It still manages to mostly be happy even through almost all my friends and family being enslaved(pretty much the whole human race actually), one dying for trying to resist and accomplishing nothing, the slow descent into madness of my one other friend who was accepted into the new society, and my own death much later. Yay.
In [dream], a race of graceful, humanoid reptiles gifted with magic called Sylians come to modern day earth and conquer the world, enslaving most of the population and destroying every government in a matter of minutes. This [Book/Videogame] is not about resisting them. That would be impossible. This book is about one of the select few who are accepted into their society, and what he accomplishes.
The protagonist, that?s me of course, was spared from slavery along with a few others because the Sylians arrival had changed something in them. They could use magic.
Magic was the Sylian equivalent of sentiency, to them other humans were nothing more than smart, disobedient animals, and because their religion holds that the gods granted magic, and we were the only sentient race ever known not to have magic, we were also seen as cursed by the gods.
All humans are technically capable of magic, but our use of it has been blocked, by what we don?t know. All of our magic is ?locked? in our minds to start with, but being near an instance of magic is enough to ?unlock? a very small portion of the population, and there is one person, a friend before the Coming, who has the ability to ?unlock? a human?s mind and even grant the Sylian greater use of their powers. The ability is called Breaking, and David Stewart becomes worshipped as a living god (literally) for it, as nothing like it had ever been known. The demands of his position, and my own interests, mean we don?t talk often before long.
David may well have been the reason three people in our group of friends had magic. The other friend was Allen Beck. But Allen is nearly inconsequential to the story because he refused to see humanity was beat and tried to start a resistance, then died before he freed a single slave.
When we are accepted into their society, we are assigned a sort of guide who helps us find our way in the new world, someone well versed in Sylian culture, lore, and magic theory. With their help, we came to understand the unusual structure of Sylian society quite quickly, and lost most of our hatred for them as we gain understanding, although we could never agree with them. We were human after all.
The lizard-men are called Sylians and are not in any way evil. Their home became unlivable over thousands and thousands of years as the pure-magic creatures with whom they co-existed died, and the untamed magic they contained was released, magic pollution if you will. It got to the point where no chemical life form could survive long, and the Sylians came here.
Sylians don?t really have a form of government per se, but they get things done. Power isn?t really valued among the Sylians, and because magic brings with it the leisure required to do so, especially when they have slaves, most Sylians spend most of their time in study of what they love. This sort of atmosphere is bad for the more traditional governments they used to have, because the public is always well informed about everything.
There was no real popular opinion except on the most basic things, and when the people inevitably disagreed with the current government about something, they would revolt. Eventually it got to the point where there were several revolutions going on constantly, and that in itself became their government. Different political ?parties? all acting for what they believed was right without regard to the rest of the population, who they?d given up on. More and more of the warring ?parties? appeared, and soon they became an accepted part of life.
Then they started to leave the political field. Associations similar to Unions began to set up, looking after the interests of the people who had a certain interest or occupation. Out of necessity, the conflicts started to become friendlier, and soon it was rare for anyone to die when there was a Clan conflict except in certain necessarily violent ?Clans?. Now, nearly everyone was in a Clan, and there were millions, some with only a few members.
As David?s friend, I had a lot of influence, and I already had a lot of magic- magic is quantitative in this- so I create my own Clan, which, in the fashion of most modern Clans, had no set purpose, but consisted of those who feel that my ideals are similar enough to theirs that they could hope to do good by swearing themselves to my allegiance.
Back there I said that magic is quantitative, now let me elaborate on the nature of magic according to me. Everyone is born with a different amount of magic, as you grow it simply comes into existence. Magic cannot be used up; you simply tire from using it. Magic can be transferred from one being to another without any energy loss, which is why it has become the sort of ?currency? for the Sylians, they operate off a barter system but magic is almost invariably what someone is giving to get something.
There are different forms of magic to do different things, and they are powered by separate energies, not just one type of ?Mana? or something that works for all fields. The different types of magic are: Chemical, learning, life, alteration, illusion, and enchanting. I will now give a short synopsis of each, in order of value:
Chemical magic: The least valuable of the schools, chemical magic is only really suited to destroying, and is often called Destruction magic. Chemical magic manipulates particles are temperatures, it can speed up or slow down chemical reactions, which could be useful for a very wide range of things if it wasn?t so hard to control. When used in conjunction with advanced enchanting can be used for effects far beyond normal Chemical magic Precision is impossible with chemical magic. Masters of Chemical magic can even replicate the big bang to create matter and antimatter.
Illusion: The second least valuable type of magic, Illusionary magic changes perception and has limited control over some types of energy. Illusion is also useful for fighting pure magic beings, but there aren?t a whole lot of those on earth.
Enchanting: More valuable than Illusionary magic, less valuable than Alteration, Enchanting magic is directly in the middle of the scale. Enchanting grants new characteristics to a material, or strengthens ones already there. This is what I specialized in during the dream, making use of my vassals? power over my own, just providing them with equippable victory.
Alteration- The second most valuable form of magic, Alteration magic allows the user to temporarily rewrite the rules of the universe to suit their own ends. Useful for obvious reasons, no one doesn?t benefit from having this.
Learning magic: The most valuable type of magic by far; it is an automatic use magic that aids the user?s mental abilities in every way. It is useful in every endeavor. It is still dependent on the users original abilities, you get smarter by percentages.
Life magic- The only magic that cannot be traded, little is known about it except that people with large amounts of it have plants grow more quickly around them. Life magic is a major plot point later in the story.
Because we were rich, neither of us needed a trade, but we each found our own fields which we studied. David specialized mainly on the nature of magic but had a well rounded education over all; while I specialized fairly heavily in Sylian culture and Enchanting magic, which humans are better at for a reason we do not yet know. Our ignorance caused a few incidents, but between the two of us, we soon got the hang of Sylian life. He did me the favour of increasing my magic potential, and I told him the intricacies of Sylian court and enchanted items for him.
This partnership was destined to crumble however, I began to become uneasy around him and he began to retreat into solitude as his personality slowly darkened. He had once told me that he felt like the soul of the person he was ?breaking? touched his own when he performed it, and that it was like he could feel some of their filth rubbed onto his mind every time. But the feeling was addictive; he couldn?t stop, even as he watched himself fall deeper into madness.
The majority of my time spent in this new world was with my Clan, fighting for causes and training. One of my men was a member of the nobility, a bored individual who took a liking to me and offered his sword to the friend of the human God. He became my champion and friend, one of the main characters for the later part of the dream as the years go by.
A bunch of timeskips later, with only brief glimpses of the time in the middle (I?m thinking a montage would be awesome here?), I had become a legend. My clan was incredibly strong, we fought for causes that reflected my own unusual human morals, and I was considered the greatest enchanter of all time. So I was pretty famous. And rich. I was only second to David in sheer amount of magic, and with those resources, what I had made the purpose of my life; figuring out the characteristics of the mysterious Life magic was almost in my grasp.
Eventually, I heard a rumour of a strange human woman wearing human bone armour raiding some town, and this intrigued me. When creatures with magic died, some kind of residue is left in their bones, when it comes into contact with magic; it has a very strange, almost entirely undocumented reaction that essentially curses the one who touched it with bad luck. I thought this trait might be in some way related to life magic?s mysteries, but had been unable to progress on it thus far. The woman had been a fairly renowned enchanter before, so there was a much better chance that she learned to somehow control or understand that power than it just being the whims of a madwoman. I decided to join the force sent to hunt her myself and see what I could learn.

My champion and I, accompanied by the best members of a local enforcement clan, search for and find the woman. She resists capture; using abilities that should, quite frankly, be impossible. In the fight, everyone but me and my champion die or are otherwise incapacitated before we manage to fell her. Fatally wounded and

I had a dream a few nights ago that my home was attacked by Illithids. It was incredibly strange. They ate my family and came after me, reached me, then I woke up.

Hate to say it dude, but I think she might still be illegal.

EDIT: Alright, I get it, she's legal. My mistake.
Legal or not, she still looks hideous.

I once had a dream in which my sister was dealing out of our garage and for some reason all I could think about the next day was acquiring pot.
Did you acquire some? Or do you not follow your dreams?

I dreamt I bought a used boat from Gerald from "Hey Arnold". I don't know what was weirder, that I was the only thing that wasn't a cartoon, or that he wanted $10 for it and I still tried to haggle.

I once had a dream of being chased by a bunch of veggietales style vegetables through a run-down waterpark where everything was painted blue...and I was wearing pink swimtrunks. Not making any of this up.

EDIT: Also, I had a dream that I was sharing a moving fortress barracks thing in the desert with cute Japanese and Irish nurses. I was a soldier. I was given an order to cover the retreat of some of my comrades, so I jumped out of the barracks on treads type thing and sprayed a burst at some oncoming soldiers who looked like they might have been Cuban...Amazingly, I managed to gun them all down using the element of surprise as I leapt out of the fortress thingy. My mobile barracks were one of many in the desert. It was...interesting. If fleshed out more, it would make a good WWIII story.

I remember one where my school was being taken over by guys who looked liked Combine soldiers. Me and a bunch of friends were in the top floor which looked like the bottom floor. I just remember walking around and shooting stuff occasionally. Maybe I was playing too much Half Life 2.

I keep on having dreams where I gain the ability to jump very high. So high in fact, it seemed like I was flying. I always wake up disappointed.

My dreams recently have all been incredibally realistic and believeable, but a bit weird - im not usually sure if it was a dream or the previous day untill a few hours after i wake up. I had one once in which my Dad and Girl died in a fire.. not nice.

Aside from that i had a reccuring surreal nightmare on and off for about 10 years, the last being somewhere early this year, ive wrote lenghty descriptions before but to not bother you lot ill just say its the manifestation of some fears of mine and includes a ballon, lizard men and a laser.

I remember this one I had after a party where I may have drank a bit too much. Pretty much I was going to hook up with some girl, it wasn't anyone I know, but then I said I had to find a condom even though I had one in my pocket. Then I woke up hungover and thinking "WTH?".

Also I have a recurring dream where I chase a devil over rocks surronded with lava. The devil is carrying a loved one, and it always changes who it is per dream. I'm wearing a nano-suit and everytime I catch up to the devil, he stops, gives me back my loved one, then pushes me off the rock we are standing on into the lava.

The dreams that I remember are always realistic, and seem as if it could happen.. Or has.

For example, I rode around in a car after hanging around a freinds house... We arrive at a factory like area. Dream Over.

The next time I dreamed and really remembered it was in a factory type place, a killer breaks out and one of us have guns.(There were 3 or so of us.) and we went where he went..My dad was the one with the gun and he raised it at him, but that wasn't really the killer it was another guy that was their for some reason or another and I see the killer huddling under the steps with a gun in which I kick him and tell the dad thats not the killer.

Then I have dreams of another school.. And it just keeps getting added onto, I learn more about it. Like one day I am standing outside waiting for my mum, the next time I travel inside the school and I meet some freinds, next dream I go looking for my class, next dream I am socalizing in the hallway kinda, next one I am lost. (That is all for now.)

Also I had a dream, and then I watched a movie about a year afterwards.(I really remember most of my dreams that I happen to wake up during.) Samething happened in the movie exactly pretty much.

A dream of my freinds sister..whoops...

One where I am going around the neighborhood, the one after that I learn about a new building and theres a fair type of thing going on and then I leave. The next one is during the night right afterwards, there was a shooting and I was running and the guy was just moving down the neighborhood shooting at anything and everything in a slow stroll hunched forward.

And I had another one that I can't really make out right now.

Most of the few dreams I remember are pretty bizarre. Here's a few of the more notable ones.

~Back when I was five or so, I had a dream where my mom and dad were driving with me in a car when we pulled up into the parking lot of a large, bank-esque building. Apparently we decided to play hide and seek. That's all well and fine...

...Until I realized that they had disappeared. I woke up rather disturbed from that one.

~Around six/seven, I had a recurring dream of sorts. The dream would always include having to jump off of my grandparents' second-story porch to escape from a tyrannosaurus rex (How jumping off of porches helped, I have no clue) at some point or another.

~Once I had a dream about driving down the highway. On a sofa.

~More recently, I've had an odd recurring dream (1-5 times a month) involving a long hallway with a green carpet floor, dark blue walls, and mahogany furniture/doors. The place seems to be in good repair. I begin by taking a walk through it. The rooms to either side of the hall are generally guest rooms of some sort, with some trinkets and personal items stored in each one. Sometimes the rooms will be inhabited, and then with what seems like a completely random person each time. They're generally normal and kind, but they always seem detached somehow, as though preoccupied with whatever they're doing. There is an exception to this, but he's not important for the dream. Suffice to say he's a shadow man who decides to take the dream down WTF lane.

Regardless, my dream always ends up (or occasionally starts) in one of two places: an elegant master suite or a study reminiscient of your traditional, old-style library. Here I come across the same being: A golden-furred anthropomorphic wolf (not being a furry, I have no idea why she's an anthro to be honest) in sophisticated clothing. At that point, she and I talk. It's generally about something intellectual and recent; current events, ideas for stories and other things, psychology, and what have you. It's gone down a more... Intimate route once or twice (once again, not being a furry I have no idea why), but it's generally a simple meeting. It might be a little odd to say this, but I've rather grown to enjoy her company when I'm dreaming. She seems well enough, and hasn't told me to kill anyone yet, so I reckon I'm fine. My theory is that she's the subconscious manifestation of my creativity: My Muse, if you will.

There's been several more, but those are my most memorable.

Has anyone else ever had a dream about a girl (or boy) you've just slept with for the first time, while you're asleep next to them? Happened to me a couple of times and to a girl I was with once and I don't believe dreams tell you the future or anything but if that happens is it important or just coincidence?

Just a coincidence. Dreams aren't important at all until we make them important.
