I see no reason not to bring in your favorite tipple...especially if the DM has some interesting mixes to show you. Just make sure it's done in moderation...other you probably WILL have someone using Magic Missile to attack the darkness.

Oh and...

Bonus points if you bring this to your next game. [http://cheezburger.com/7586003200]

A few drinks is fine. Can make things a lot more fun even. But people getting drunk while gaming...big no no. Even with pc/console gaming. Your focus and reaction is just gone, and it isn't fun for the others. That being said, D&D is about having fun. You shouldn't take games like that too seriously. I'm a huge fan of tabletop games, but taking it too seriously will end badly with or without drinking, imo.

I think it depends entirely on the group and how they work together socially. A drink or two is fine, but getting drunk too much.

On the other hand, I recently had a group of non-drinkers get stinking drunk in-game on Bugman's XXXX just because I found the "affects of getting drunk" table in Warhammer Fantasy RPG. That was a brilliant night, but they did completely ignore my plot. The apprentice wizard outdrank the dwarf, and the zealot ended up with a very nasty rash. Good times.
