Hello Escapist
So after having a debate about it earlier in the car i wanted to ask you something

Here is the Scenario:
You are in a car and giving directions to the person driving, there is a left turn coming up with 20 meters of the car that you have to go down, with no more left turns within the next 100 meters. Do you tell the driver to

A.) Take THIS left
or
B.) Take the NEXT left

I tell him to take a left, then when he asks which one, I laugh maniacally and dive from the car.

I would say take the left on the oncoming intersection, because my explanations must be wordier than necessary.

I cannot be held responsible for what I will actually say in the future by any answer I give here. It will vary.

Doesn't matter, though, because I will make it make sense.

I quickly select a landmark to associate the junction with.

Example: Turn left just after the phone box.

I just grab the wheel and make the left-turn myself like a boss!

It's this left. I feel that works, at least I've never had a problem doing it like that.

My Dad takes a different approach. "It's this left, down whatever street, you know this is where I used to live, we had a great big garden and..." The directions aren't wrong, but christ it's annoying.

Take this left.

20 m is close enough that you can consider it already there.

'This left' because 'Next left' might be taken to mean 'There's another left turn in a while, wait for that'.

I say "You just missed the turn" because I forgot to remind them where the turn was. I am no good at this.

"Turn right here."

"What but that goes into an orphanage?!"

"Give me the wheel damnit!"

*Crashes into orphanage*

*Vanish before witnesses arrive*

1 hour later

News reporter:

"A tragic accident occured today when the blind, deaf and dumb orphans at Hull orphanage all died today when a driver claimed the Cheshire cat himself took control of the wheel and drove through the wall. There were no witnesses and the driver has been arrested for multiple charges of 1st degree manslaughter and sentenced to life in imprisonment"

"Were all mad here...."

Left here.
20m is good enough to turn on the blinker and turn the wheel, esepcially if you ar ein a city and come 30-50 km/h.
If you're on a highway and its 100-140km/h then the next left, if you ever happen to find another left in 100m here on a highway then good luck.
