You can't go wrong with Forza Horizon 2.
The game is a bit arcade and sim with an variable setting for asistance. If you become better at the game, you are more likely to disable assist. The open world setting is gorgeous, its varied but keeps that french-italian country setting.
The main series of Forza is tight too with flexible assist settings but I think you will enjoy more Horizon series because of the freedom and variety.
Something else about Forza, the drivatar system really makes it a more personal experience, even if you only play offline, seeing your friend list on the road makes it inmediatly more personal and feels much better than playing against bots.
