So what does the Escapist like to listen to while on the road?

Personally These two come as a must for me.

There is only one song to listen to while driving. Heavy Metal (taking a ride) by Don Felder
Lol, movie reference.

I listen to sports radio if I have my choice of radio station. I can't find a radio station that has songs I particularly like on it.

The rest of my family listens to classic rock/easy listening.

"A Call To Arms" EP from Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. Not really driving songs, but it's what I usually listen to in the car. If I get tired of that I'll skip around and listen to anything and everything, but BOTAR is my stand-by.

For really long road trips, I'll download a couple of Podcasts like "This American Life" "60 Minutes" and "Escape Pod."

AC/DC and Meatloaf.

But I listen to AC/DC and Meatloaf no matter what I do, so I may be biased.

Depends on the mood I'm in. I'm partial to AC/DC, ZZ Top and such similar bands. Controlled aggression.

I don't drive myself, though when I eventually get my license (on hold for now due to university) then I'll probably just leave Radio 1 (UK) on. Or Radio Aire, my local station here in Leeds. However, when my dad drives, he has CDs. Right now he has my mum's Take That CDs (which are awesome, The Circus is a brilliant album), Guns and Roses, and Queen. He's massive Queen fan (with good reason :D).

However, he's also, for some reason, recently gotten into classical music. No idea why, he's always been a power ballad type of guy. Add that to the fact he recently had a new car, i.e. the latest version of the Land Rover Discovery, and that has a really loud and massive sound system. So he likes to dive along with Mozart or Beethoven or whatever at full volume. And anyone who's ever heard classical music knows how loud it is at the best of times. It's exceptionally deafening whenever I'm in the car, though he's half deaf in one ear anyway so it doesn't matter as much to him...

I'm a little upset that it took 12 posts for Radar Love to be posted.

This is my personal favourite.

"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen.

Driving 80 down a highway, middle of a starry, summer night, me and my friends are the only ones on the road...

Yeah. Pretty awesome :D

Depends what mood I'm in, as well as what the conditions are like.

If I'm feelin' introspective/it's dark outside, a bit of Bohren & Der Club Of Gore is literally perfect.

For more upbeat affairs I tend towards some Captain Ahab, and that's just how I roll.

Normally I just put my Ipod on shuffle, but specifically for driving? F-Zero Mute City.

Yes I too was disgruntled to see that.

I would go Fuel by Metallica. Specifically The S&M concert live version.
