I remember in my test I got in and said we had to hurry, the cops were after me for the cannabis I had in my pants.

Needless to say I needed to go to another building on a different day to take my test again. To which the guy asked me if I had any experience (after about 3-4 months of driving with others), I said of coures, you're looking at the kid that tried to do 100 on a 25 mile bend.

But I have a bunch of other stories. not really aout driving, or at least my driving in particular, but just car stories that I think are funny.

During my driving test, my instructor made me go back to the starting point 3 times so he could use the bathroom...

...Other highlights of the test: Stopping at the convenient store so he can buy groceries and hotdogs...

Do tell.

OT: Nothing really happened on mine except I apparently did the opposite of the two people before me. Whcih was signal going into a park on a hill but forgot to signal going away.

My driving test was on the 11th of November last year. As a result of the time I chose to start the test (about 10:25am), the test ended at 11am after having done a reverse into a parking bay back at the test centre.

I had to sit through the two minute silence with no idea how I did on my test, with the examiner next to me and my instructer outside looking at us from the car park. That was painful, though as my instructor did say afterwards, I'll never forget the day that I passed now.

I also once had a friend of mine say in preparation for the theory test "It's all common sense and I don't need any practice", before failing. That was amusing to behold. And another friend of mine went to his theory test without the paper part of his license, which resulted in him having paid £45 to show up at 8am and then be forced to leave with no certificate and no refund.

I don't know if you're in the UK or not but firstly just relax and you'll do fine. I took my own car to the test center and I bay parked it before the test in the hope that the examiner could see I could already do it and wouldn't ask me to do it again. It may have worked as I had to parralel park and 3 point turn as my manouvers which were the ones I was best at.

Mirrors, mirrors, mirrors. Don't just glance, move your head so the examiner can see you actively looking, everytime you go to do something. Change lanes, slow down, whatever, keep checking your mirrors.

Keep an eye on your examiner. You won't be able to see the sheet of paper, but you should be able to see how often he/she writes things down, the less the better.

I don't know if it counts as a funny story or simply bragging on my part (hey, I have to be good at something right?) but I was brought back 15 minutes early. At first I was shitting myself thinking I must have done something wrong for him to end the test, as it happens he said my standard was so good there was no way I was going to fail. That was a nice little confidence boost.

Ultimately, if you're up to test standard, you already know everything you need to do so you should be fine as long as you relax. Overthink and you'll make mistakes. My brother failed his first test for example because he didn't use the bus lane (thinking that's what the examiner wanted) when actually he wanted to see if my brother would pay attention to the hours of use and use it because he was allowed to at that time.

I passed my driving test on the first try, nothing particularly interesting, but, me having been nervous the whole time, the examiner told me I might be a little too cautious xD

The guy that was giving me the test was an hour late so I only had to drive around the block and parallel park for my test.

Well, one day we moved my friends car from the parking garage he had it in to one twenty blcosk away and didnt tell him. He ended up filing a police report. It was rather funny.

Passed on the first try...
When parallel parking, my grader stopped me and told me to move on while I was still backing into the spot (Guess she could tell I could do it).

I lost a few points from some jerk that cut me off and almost crashed into an oncoming car, because apparently "I didn't defend my lane"... what? So... when I'm driving I'm supposed to STOP OTHER people from doing illegal things?

Doesn't matter though, still passed.

I passed on the first try but, I was so nervous i made mistakes.

I forgot how to turn off the lights on my car, and, according to my driving instructor, I paralleled parked too quickly.

I took a loooong time to learn the basics, and I'm still a god awful driver, but learning to drive is one of the most fun things I've done in ages. Just enjoy your test, you only live it once.

My instructor nodded off a couple times during the drive, and gave me a perfect score.

I missed a stop sign my first time. The instructor said "Nah, don't worry, everyone misses that one." Still passed. Haven't been pulled over once.

Oh and parallel parking? Read how to do it five minutes beforehand, pulled it off first time. Got my license first time. And I'm a horrible driver. I'm so happy!

I honestly thought I'd failed my test during it. I can't remember what I got, I think it was something like two or three minors, but I seriously thought I'd failed. Being in the UK, when pulling out of a junction the closest traffic comes from the right, going left. After doing a maneuver in a side street, I was instructed to pull back out onto the main road, turning left, and carry on. The amount of traffic made me hesitate at the junction, and I ended up waiting for about five minutes for a gap that I was confident enough to get through. Gaps were appearing in the traffic, but very rarely, though they were all big enough for me to get through I kept hesitating at each one. I thought that would be enough to fail me (as in the UK, some examiners do actually fail you for being slow like that), but because there were no cars behind me (and thus I wasn't impeding any other drivers in any way) it was only marked as a minor (which is fine) rather than a serious (which is an automatic fail).

I also had some really bad encounters with idiots cutting me up and driving really badly all over the place when I was still learning, including a white van man being a complete and utter retard and almost making me crash during my lesson on the morning of my test. I was really worried something similar would happen during the test, thankfully it didn't. Though after I'd passed I was informed by my driving instructor that his car, which I'd used for my test, had a front light out, which neither of us had noticed before. If my examiner had picked up on that before the test, then it would have counted as a fail for me (though since it wasn't my fault I would have received a refund and a chance to reschedule, unlike if I'd failed during the test proper), so I actually got off pretty lucky there...
