The original, as a few of you may remember, was a film which was set to be Rik Mayals launch pad into Hollywood. It was so utterly bad that it not only meant he sank into obscurity in the USA almost immediately, but it also caused him to lose a lot of his credibility in the UK, where he was as loved as Stephen Fry (up until then anyway).

It got 9% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, why in the name of arse are they remaking this... abomination... of all things. And secondly, why the fuck is anyone putting Russel Brand in anything?

For those non-filmers among you, this is kinda like Peter Molyneux announcing that he is set to remake Too Human, along with all new death animations.

I don't think I am exaggerating when I say that this is the worst idea in film history.

I've never seen this movie, but maybe they want to remake it to exploit an old idea that sucked and make it look really good in comparison?

On the plus side, it's got a very real chance at being the first remake that was better than the original.

My roommate forced me to watch that a while ago. I had never seen it before. I really wished that it had stayed that way.

I can't really see how it could get much worse, though, so the remake is bound to be an improvement.

Heeeey.... I like Russel Brand

I've never heard of that movie, but it does seem strange that they're remaking a movie which was a failure. It'd be like remaking Batman and Robin.

I think it's because Hollywood can't make a movie that is not a remake or rip-off successful, repo-men was an unoriginal version of Repo:the genetic opera, mostly everything in the theater right now is a remake and the only original movie playing "Hot Tub Time Machine" did pretty lousy at the box office.
So in short, Hollywood: try giving insane amounts of money to ranting lunatics you find wandering the streets so we can get an original movie at some point. (there is no possible way that will end badly)

Hollywood reached the bottom of the barrel and then kept on scraping? Perhaps they felt that what we really needed was Drop Dead Fred in 3D....

Sad thing is, if people keep buying tickets to that stupid shit then they will keep churning it out.
