ok, so i've been having troubles connecting my DS to my router. i've fixed all the security and all that, and the error code that comes up is 52100, which basically means you have a transfer problem, or an IP conflict. i fixed the transfer problem as per nintendo's guidelines, but the problem remains. i need to know what IP i should add the 10 digits to from the cmd/run/ipconfig/all thing, as the only address that isnt 192.169.1.1 is the IP4P address, so yeah, what one should i use?

First of all is it a DS or a DSi?

I'm not really sure why but DS's can't communicate with a lot of routers bar the Nintendo Dongle. The only time I've been able to get my DS online at my house has been with the DSi which is a lot easier to set up.

You really, really shouldn't be sharing your IP address like that.

Have you changed your routers security settings to WEP? that was my problem, the DS connects using a older encrption, that most routers have upgraded from now, but you can easily change it back

[edit] sorry, didnt read your whole post, gimme a while to think about it then...

Considering that it's a local IP address, I don't see how it could possibly be of any harm.

Exactly, sharing a local IP address wont hurt his security at all. It's like saying, yes i sleep on the sofa in my house.

Ds and Ds lite can only connect to WEP security settings. So far all the games ive tried also only allow WEP (Not sure about newer games sorry.)

DSi however will connect to any settings just like the wii but games will still not work online.

Two options are too set your routers to WEP (outdated security may compromise your network ) or remove your security altogether (Extremely dumb thing to do but if your neibours arent likely to nick your internet why not?)

I had so many problems with my DS NOT connecting to net... It connected only one time, but then there was an "IP Conflict found". So I gave up, until I remember my WEP password to change some settings... Or find my DS-Link software ;d
