Ok so ive saved up about a good 1500$ to purchase my first camera, but ive been doin research for the past 2 months (ya when i make a big purchase it takes me a while to come to a decision lol) and have been going back and forth on whether to buy a DSLR or an HD camcorder, ive seen the advantages and disadvantages of both but am still clueless as to which one to buy, im wanting to make really great looking movies but there are some that have alot of motion in them, something that DSLR's have trouble with and get that jelly effect, any advice on this?

Weeeell you want to make movies, so you need a Video camera, not a Still Camera.

Sure DSLR can give decent videos, but for 1500 you should be able to get a really good HD Camcorder. Also Camcorders usually have better interfaces and such for filming.

If you want to make decent films then I'd spend some of that $1500 on a really good HD video camera and the rest on some good video editing software.

DSLRs are a great, but they're not the ideal tool for that job.
