Hey guys, sorry to be a bore but I would like some technical help! My new Dualshock3 arrived today but it won't connect to my PS3. I have tried connecting it via USB lead and hitting the PS button, as instructed, but the LEDs just continue to flash. Am I doing anything wrong?

Thanks for the help.

Try switching off your PS3 and then on again while the controller is connected with via USB.

If that don't work then I got nothing!

Unplug the power lead from the PS3 completely for a minute, then turn the power back on. Then push the PS button new controller connected via USB to wake it up from standby.

If that still doesn't work, I'm also out of suggestions.

Hit the reset button. Worked for me when mine had issues connecting.

If you have to hit the reset button every 10 minutes it means the battery is at the end of its life, but since its new then maybe you need to just let it charge properly.

Surely you should still have the receipt?, also do you have a secondary DualShock that works?

Yeah I thought maybe I had to let it charge so I left it awhile, still nothing. I got it from ebay and can send it back easily but I just want to make sure it's not me. I have another controller but the R1 and R2 button are broken because my visiting brat brother is...well, a brat.

I also received a USB memory stick with the controller, I have no idea what it's for...

HOLD the button on the controller while it's connected to the PS3 via USB. Worked every time so far for me.

There is always the possibility its just broken.

The first dualshock I bought had a glitch where the analog stick kept sending out a 'down' signal, which was fun because i had to hard rest my PS3 to disable the damn thing. The PS menu was like russain roulette and i was unable to hit the turn off controller button.

However i just brought it back and got a new one that worked great.

My only advise is if you know anyone with a dualshock controller try connecting it to your system. If the second controller works then the controller you have is very likely broken.

Since you got it off Ebay this is probably the case... I don't trust Ebay after some shit that happened with a friend of mine...

Have you tryed sticking the usb stick in it? it could be a reciver (just like a wi-fi/bluethooth adapter) its nothing for the ps3 but its cheap enough for ebay.
