alright my fellow escapists, what are your thoughts on dubstep? What are your favorite artists? I really like Mimosa and Flux Pavillion, but I want to know what others there are. If you dont know what it is, look up the artists Mimosa, Flux Pavillion, Nero, Rusko, and Bassnectar to get a feel for it.

I like dubstep thats excessively heavy. The genre has really missed a trick, there should be more artists like this.

Yeah, not as much as I used to, prefer faster stuff. But a lot of it is still awesome, just don't go seeking it out anymore.
[br]Chase n' Status has been overplayed by the radio, but it's still good. From the best album I own, but it's the only dubstepish song on there, Ed Solo was awesome live as well. (I think)
Note that's for a different OP who was looking for dubstep after just finding it, so nothing that isn't exactly mainstream there.

Other thread is here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.242088-Hey-you-Listen-to-Dubstep] if you want more suggestions.

Love dubstep. Love it. I don't have a particular artist that I favour (except maybe Mt. Eden), but I love listening to both original tracks and remixes. Especially remixes. Especially Ellie Goulding remixes. Especially the WIRED Dubstep Remix of "Lights".

I enjoy it, about on the same level as heavy tech-step dnb.

My problem with both genres (although more so with tech step) is that the palette of sounds is quite satisfying, but it doesn't really go anywhere. I tend to enjoy dubstep the most when artists who mainly produce breakcore/IDM/industrial material start dabbling in it - it kinda brings a different mindset.

e.g. [Warning : Heavy]

I dislike dubstep for the same reason people dislike a lot of metal. It's basically just a constant breakdown, except the typical JUN JUN JUN JUNJUNJUNJUNJUN JUN of guitars in metal being replaced by the WUB WUB WUB WUBWUBWUBWUBWUB WUB of dubstep.

But if that's your cup of tea, it's not up to me to tell you what to like or dislike.
I respect that. you don't like it, but you don't slander it and attack me for liking it, like other people would.

I dislike most/almost all electronic music/techno. But I'd say that if i had to choose a subgenre it would probably be dubstep.

My experiance with Dubstep kind of got off to a bad start. I was at a Pendulum concert last week, and the DJ started playing songs that my friend later told me was dubstep. He was good, but I just couldnt dance to it.

However, ive been told dubstep is pretty mellowing, so ill give it a shot.

I like all types of music (literally all of it!, except bieber, but he's not music), but Dubstep is a particular favourite of mine at the moment, I mean, Chasing shadows-III is nigh-euphoric! So, yeah, love it!

I'm more of a house and electro house type - loving Wolfgang Gartner and Deadmau5, and Sweedish House Mafia. But for dubstep, man, have you listed to Noisia's album Split the Atom? It's sick.

yeah, its not that you can really dance to. its a kind of music where you can just chill listening to it.

Even metal? most people who say that forget about metal and remember that they don't like it. I love metal, but some people really are just against it for some reason.

Nope, I love metal too, I can skip through my music randomly and go through Pantera, N-dubz, Eminem, Frank Sinatra, Slipknot, John lee hooker, etc etc!

Seriously, I dont get how people can listen to just one genre and one genre alone, with no exceptions, seems silly to me :/

I love dubstep, it just gets me going nuts! :D

This has to be my favourite song at the minute.

Or this one is starting to really grow on me.
