i get really annoyed when people say "All 11-14 year olds are fags with squeaky voices".
I always think to myself "Yes i might not be 18 and old enough to play on one BUT i DONT scream, i DONT sing, i DONT spam and think dont i'm amazing when i get a kill.
When will people learn that some people are more matured then others and just play the game?
this might be a flame thread but seriously, who else thinks this?

I think people just use the generalisation out of ease and anger.
It's not that they formulated an opinion after thinking about the matter.
If they did and they still think that, then they are wrong and you shouldn't waste time reasoning with them because they're probably 12 years old.

I fully support servers that have the ">16 years old? Stay off mic." rule

It's impossible for people to tell if you're a squeaky-voiced kid unless you ARE a squeaky voiced kid. Don't make a big deal of it and no one else will, unless you fall into that category. In which case, guess you're shit out of luck.

It's nothing personal, it's just very annoying how childlike high-pitched voices sound over microphones. It's sometimes harmless, usually annoying, and occasionally incredibly painful, especially if they don't understand how microphones work.

I don't think that either, but I guess it's because people are more likely to remember somebody who shouts a load of random abuse than somebody who's quieter, it's how a lot of generalizations get started.

Though it does get a little bit more raunchy here and there. Stuff that REALLY isn't safe for work, or humanity.

OT: Well, I'm afraid it's the majority, and since you brought it up, we're just gonna have to talk about it even more. I mean, I have had older people being idiots online, but I think it's worse that it's an 11 year old try to ACT tough.

Thankfully, that's where Trolling comes useful. Also the mute button.

Calumon: Jack doesn't let me online on my own. He says it's scary. :S

> Meaning less then 16 right? Yay I could talk on those servers then, I am 16. :D

Unless you mean equal to or less then... Then... I would be sad... :(

You're really not helping your case at all with this thread if you ask me. Basically, who cares?

Just ignore it? If you know that you don't fit into a sterotype then it shouldn't concern you. When people do try to place you into it its best just to write them off as the ignorant and closed minded fools that they are.

Life will become much less stressful for you when you do.

Because a lot of them are.

Not all people from Afghanistan are terrorists, yet some of them made a very clear stereotype about it.

It's PG 13 by internet standards.
Sure, it would have been rated M.

But then again, 4chan.
Well... yeah.

The Magazine Analogy

I would put /b/ on the top shelf wrapped up for public decency, while Youtube would be there but forbidden to open due to inside it (I.E: Nuts, Page 3 of the Sun), and The Escapist is that magazine with Gaming and geek stuff in it but turn to back pages and you get the sexy adverts showing tits, cleavage, ass and implied vaginas.

So I would put it at about a 15+.

Calumon: Ummm... why aren't I allowed to read this?

Jack: Because you're the only innocent and pure thing I have left.

(This is a PG 13 forum... I'm just saying, because 3/4 of the ages you can be in 11-14 are 13 and under, rendering your options slim).

No, I don't think that.
It's just that, there are a lot that do, and well, the others (such as you apparently) don't make a fuss so you aren't noticed, and assumed older.
You probably are thought to be older if you are a considerate gamer. And I'm sure some of the people out there accused of being 11-14 are quite possibly 20-22 and never learned to behave better. But it is hard to escape stereotyping. Not every person in a certain age group loves Twilight or Star Wars, but it is hard to get heard over the din of the pack. Just do your best to show you are different. I'm sure you will be appreciated for your good sportsmanship.

I've said that before, sorry they're just the ones that catch my attention.
To be fair I've run into many more normal kids then those ones, but the shriekers are just the ones that really stick in your mind.

Also there are just as many loud, inconsiderate, sexist, racist, and otherwise unpleasant people of all ages, it's more shocking to see younger kids do it though.

I probably would worry more about this and have more insight, but honestly, I just mute people when I play online. I do notice that it isn't just the 13 year douchbags who scream stuff and get obnoxious, the squeeky voices make them easier to remember than the samey, dull deeper voices of most guys. It's why guys remember the girls with mics who talk trash and even the calm ones who are winning and remembered for the fact that they are girls.

It's all about what people remember about every person talking, I remember the obnoxious people, either sounding or content. Though again, I just mute people. People are diff. playing games, I'm probably unable to have a mic since I get sweary and asshole sounding when I play, but that's how I play. People like myself shouldn't have mics since it's a waste of money and just obnoxious to everyone else, so they'll just mute the dumbasses and play
