Duff PSU????

So i bought a corsair 600w PSU off ebay for a second PC I'm putting together out of spare parts from previous builds. But when all hooked up i press the power button and the fans whirl and the lights come on for a second. I've tried it in the current PC I'm on also with the same result. So I'm guessing the PSU is duff, but wanted to know if there was any other possibility anyone else might know of before i ship it back to the seller?

Does the screen stay black? I looked in here because the title has my last name. But low and behold, the only computer I've ever made had the exact same problem. lol

monitor doesn't even get a chance to detect the signal.

Assuming you've hooked up everything correctly and everything you've tested it on was working previously (and you aren't trying to power more than it can handle) than chances are that is your problem. The seller should let you send it back for a replacement...if not, assuming you paid through PayPal you can always get your money back regardless if you've been screwed over.

Sounds like it might be power related. My computer rarely does exactly as you describe, when it has been left off for a long time because it's power source just~ covers what it uses.
