Many, many people think it's god awful. Hell, I'm willing to say those people are in the majority. I count myself to be among them.

OT: Duke Nukem is now parodying the games it's been ruthlessly stealing from? I'm not even sure if there's an epic fail picture suitable enough...

Sales weren't that bad actually, the critics just teared into it and I bet a load of people traded it in...
They did.

I went to trade it in less than a week after it came out. Went into Gamestop, handed the clerk the game, and when he checked how much it was worth he almost shit a brick.

The game went from worth about $40 for trade to being worth $12 in less than 4 days.

They probably made it between the time it went Gold and the time it actually launched.

It takes them 12 fucking years to come out with a fucking 6 hour game, and less than a month to come out with the first DLC package? Fuck you 2K/3D Realms.

So much hate for this game....

Anyway, the DLC sounds pretty good. I would probably get it if I own the game (wait until the price is dropped) and I had money to waste.

(This is to all the people who complain and whine that "this game took this many years to complete it...") To qoute "CommanderMeaty," whom replied to another user on the 2K Blog about this DLC:
"Starting from scratch over and over again and switching to another developer is not 14 years. "

As someone said, if they had parodied themselves, instead of better games (albeit less "refreshing" games), then they might have had something.

Like maybe the parody might have miraculously made the game 55x better. Instead of reminding people that they fueled nostalgia, not a great game. /paradox

Reading pro-DNF posts is like reading comedic, nostalgia-driven gold. It's platinum when there's no nostalgia filling it, though! =D

They still haven't fixed the issues with the multiplayers awful lag and the microphone sitaution( you can't turn them off) so whats the point? Your supposed to address issues like these before you try for DLC

I don't really know what people complain about; most of the whining stems from how outdated Duke is nowadays. Umm...isn't that the point in Duke Nukem? Absurd machismo and over-the-top-testosteronic manliness?

Either way, it looks nice. I would have bought DN;F already, but I have no money and I have other games to get first.
Most of peoples complaints can be put up like this, people could LAUGH at Duke in the earlier games, but now they can not, making the whole comedy aspect fall apart because NO CHARACTER steps up and points to dukes own stupidity.
Also, the game is bad, you must be a very non-avid gamer to not figure that one out. Also, hes trying to REFERENCE things, not make fun of them, REFERENCING is pointing to something else by simply saying it, while if theres a joke in there, it can be funny, but none OF THE GOD DAMN jokes are funny.

*Also, don't say the whole "DON'T SPEAK FOR EVERYONE" speechle, because from what I see, that IS a valid complaint, there saved you a whole speeal.

*Edit:

Really well, why repeat again when I can point upwards, Duke is just REFERENCING things, its barely comedy to reference things, its like referencing the money pit, its only going to be funny to those who watched it, even then its still NOT THAT FUNNY! You must also not be a avid gamer, so I'll fill you in on something, shooters should be fun, shooters that say their going to do something out of the norm NEVER DO! With DNF's release, he praticually stole all of the modern game trends which he said he WOULDN'T steal, he specifically says POWER ARMOR is FOR PUSSIES, AND YET HE HAS SHIELDS AND REGENERATING HEALTH! Also, since when is the escapist super critical, super rational denizens? Look at some of our shows and then call us super rational, super critical, look at Yahtzee, Extra Credits, Jimquisition, none of those are really that serious when you knuckle down to it.
*shudders for the Jimquisition.

Does Duke Nukem Forever even have a solid enough online community to warrant DLC packs?

Either way, it sounds entertaining, especially the freeze-tag mode.

Where does it say they have to be warranted , do you again rely on mainstream publisher's practices who are totally irrelevant to the gaming community.

I happen to know that DLC was planned long before release, the game is not a full game, it's been chopped in half, DLC3 will have 15 "new" SP levels, but they actually have to finish them, this might seem how DNF got this big DLC support, it's actually the other half of the game.

Well there's no point making DLC is nobody wants it, or if there's nobody to buy it.

And mainstream publishers practices are pretty damn relevant to the gaming community, since they're the mainstream publishers after all.

Actually, it sold surprisingly well. Only LA Noire outsold it last month.
I'm honestly starting to look upon DNF as something akin to "When the whistle blows" from the Extras show - widely loathed and panned by every critic on the planet, while being pretty popular regardless wtih a good number of people.

One could easily use this to conclude with "See - people are idiots." Of course one could also easily conclude just how little effect actual criticism and review has these days when it comes to things like hard sales.
