It's not unreasonable to not know much about Australia if you don't live there.
hahaha. No, wait - are you being serious?

It doesn't take a massively in depth knowledge of the geography of the antipodes to answer the question: "Where is the Melbourne Cup held"
I'll give you a hint: it's not Antarctica

I don't have a great knowledge of European geography, but could take a punt on which towns contain the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

I work at an amusement park, among others in a game where you can win teddy-bears of many different sizes and types, the shelves and everything are FILLED with them.

Some morons ask me what they can win, and they are very serious. I like to point out their stupidity afterwards.

"Lol, OP anyone from the US probably wouldn't know."

Yeah, and pray tell what intellectual wonderland it is that you hail from. I'd like to know which nation is so overrun with mind blowing titans of acumen, that they can spare such a cogitative colossus like yourself the necessary time to come into online forums and arrogantly insult the intelligence of over 300 million people. I would have assumed that utilizing your unassailable mental prowess to save the world from morons like those of us who live in the United States would occupy far to much of your time to allow for such well informed and no doubt greatly appreciated social discourse as that which you have brought to this table.
How is that an insult?
It's not unreasonable to not know much about Australia if you don't live there.
Yeah, but the question was "Where is the Melbourne cup held?" I think any person with a fair amount of logic can figure that one out.

Is it a choice? (about my orientation).

I should say something like "Oh yes, I was recruited by the gay version of the Jehovah's Witnesses" -_-
Or if they're open minded, I'll say the stork played The Village People and Cyndi Laumper on his boombox as he dropped me off at the hospital (it was a long flight from the baby factory) :p

P.S Nope, I've felt this way since puberty(felt crushes for guys since I was a child) and it's a natural inclination... just like with everyone else.

so as the title says whats the dumbest question someone has ever asked you

mine was: "where is the melbourne cup held".

for those who dont know melbourne is a city in Australia and one of the main ones if you live in Australia you know what melbourne is.

and for those that are a bit thick its like asking where is the london cup held
I think the Melbourne cup is sometimes held in Auckland.

"I can't find something.
"Where was the last place you had it?"

Well if I knew that...
I understand you can get annoyed by that, but I don't think that's dumbness, usually when people say that they're just trying to help, since they too don't know the answer?

What do you them to say? "I can't find something...", response: "...so?" or "[silence]"

Probably the time in my history class after doing a project on the atomic bomb one of the boys, aged 15, asked "Would America still have the power or money to make those?"
He was serious too and everyone kinda just looked at him like o_O

I do this sometimes and sometimes it happens to me:

- Do you know this guy named Jack?
- Not sure how's he like?
- [insert description of Jack]
- Oh, right, yeah I know him is it Bob?

One of my friends who is 17 repeatedly asks questions that lead us to believe there is something wrong with her.

"Where's the bathroom?" Even though she was looking at the bathroom door.
"Who's Hitler?" Naturally asked right after we got out of history class.

And of course one of my favorites.
Her: "Can you give me a ride home?"
ME: "I guess, where do you live?"
Her: "... I don't know, I thought you would know. Don't you?"

Yeah, made for a fun afternoon.
Sounds more like she's messing with you than being stupid :p

The shop where I work is directly opposite an Argos store. Most of the time I'm on the hotdog counter out front. Every summer about 20+ people ask me where Argos is even though the shop is directly behind them with a massive sign saying "ARGOS" above the door. I send them round the block and wave at them as they find the store and realise that I screwed them over with directions. That or I simply point and see the feeling of stupidity blossom over their face.

my sister was watching an ice skating show on tv, in which they were using bubbles for some reason. She actually asked me 'wouldn't the bubbles make the ice slippy?' (she was 18 at the time)
