Well... almost [http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/08/12/dungeons-no-keeper/]
But even though it isn't really Dungeon Keeper 3, it is the next best thing. Kalypso makes great games (the most recent I played was Tropico 3), and I believe they will make this game good.

What do you guys think? Is this good, is this bad? Should they just re-make Dungeon Keeper 1 or 2, or do you hope they do something new with it?

I think this is awesome. I love Dungeon Keeper 2, and I have been waiting for a new game in the series ever since I beat it. And since we most likely will never see a proper sequel, this is the best thing that could happen.

And for you convenience, here is the press release:
Prepare to Unleash Your Devious Side as Kalypso Media Announces ?Dungeons?

Think you can hack it as an evil Dungeon Lord?

Ridgewood, NJ, August 12, 2010 ? Kalypso Media, a global publisher of award-winning PC and console games is pleased to unveil Dungeons, an all new strategy/simulation title for Windows PC which will take players on a devious adventure through the depths of the underworld. Prepare to have the roles reversed as you play a despicable Dungeon Lord whose job is to create fiendish dungeons to lure and trap heroes who dare to try and steal your treasure. Dungeons is currently in development by Realmforge, a Kalypso Media studio and is scheduled for release in Q1 2011.

Dungeons follows the mis-adventures of the foremost of all Dungeon Lords, who spends his time luring heroes into his labyrinthine creations with the promise of treasure and a good fight ? only to be trapped by his ingenious devices. Once they are in his grasp, our Dungeon Lord must look after and cherish his new found prisoners until they are more comfortable with their surroundings, because come the ?harvest?, happy heroes have more precious soul energy for you to gleefully extract via foul prisons or twisted torture chambers!

In Dungeons, our protagonist falls victim to a devious plot hatched by his vile, nasty and thoroughly vicious ex-girlfriend and finds himself at the bottom of the underworld hierarchy and the top of the dungeon pile which in this world is about as bad as it can get. Our Lord must have his revenge, and make his way back down the dungeon levels to his rightful place ? but first he must deal with his new bosses, the three despicable Dungeon Lords who stand in his way.

At his disposal are his dim-witted goblin minions who dig tunnels and build rooms to lay out his lair and trap ever stronger and braver heroes who dare to enter, not forgetting to plot his revenge against his ex-girlfriend and his new bosses who think it?s great fun to bombard him with useless tasks. It goes without saying that a malicious and sneaky creature such as our Dungeon Lord has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Revenge will be sweet indeed.

Sounds interesting - will there be multiplayer?

I always thought that the tf2 world would be great with this kind of gameplay... think Evil Genius vs a Highlander TF2 Team.

This sounds very dungeon keeper-like.

Maybe it's a sneaky reboot.

Either way sounds good :D I love dungeon keeper and it needs a 3rd instalment.

If they go for the real Dungeon Keeper thing, I bet they will have MP. DK2 had it, so I don't see why not.

Yeah. What is cool about DK, and hopefully this game, is the fact that you can possess any creature. So DK2 is in reality kind of a RTS and a first person fighting game. It's awesome.

Awesome! I've always loved the Dungeon Keeper series, and I still play them, occasionally. But will this make up for those moments of watching the DK3 trailer knowing it wouldn't come? Either way, I'm watching this.

Err, at first I thought this was going to be about that Chinese MMO, was slightly uplifted when I started reading, then had a pie thrown in my face when I saw the screenshots. A rancid pie.

Dungeon Keeper 2 wasn't pretty by any means, but looking at the pictures on that site you swear they'd just modded that, it looks awful, especially since Tropico 3 didn't even look this terrible! Besides, I never really got the fuss over DK2, since the original is a far more solid game, and personally I find looks and feels aesthetically better despite using an archaic game engine.

The whole deal with the MMO is stupid. Wish we could get a real game instead. But I think this will be a good substitute.

Sure, DK2 wasn't that pretty. But it wasn't bad either. And for some reason I never got into the first game. Maybe because I didn't have much money for games at the time that was out, but I did start to buy games when the second was out. Because of this I like the second a lot more, gameplay wise. Some of the missions was awesome in the way you could solve them in different ways. I remember I spent days on the "dig into the prison of your enemy and rescue the creatures" mission. I did it perfectly, covering my breaches with hidden doors, taking over the prison one room at a time.

But I do also hope the game will look a bit better when it comes out. Tropico 3 looks great, so hopefully they will polish up this a lot.

I don't get into strategy games normally, but I've always had a soft spot for Dungeon Keeper. I'm pretty excited about this actually. Look forward to checking it out.

Thanks for the tip.

I'll keep an eye on this, I have wanted a Dungeon keeper 3 for a long time now.
Can't we just kidnapp Peter Molyneux and force him to make us a third one though?....anybody?......

I like Tropico 3, methinks this could work out well for everyone involved. I'll keep an eye on the project! Pity it won't have all the trademarked hallmarks like Horny the demon, but if the gameplay is solid enough I'm certainly willing to see it as a 'spiritual successor' rather than a direct continuation.

Considering both Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 both had multiplayer, and under the presumption technology has only made things easier. Yes, I believe multiplayer isn't out of reach.
