Very great game series... I've personally been secretly waiting for a comeback... although I'm also waiting for the next Super Mario RPG, Lost Vikings, and Black & White... So I'm bound to be dissapointed at every turn.

And dude, the spelling? You had better be 6 and just sneaked in to play Dungeon Keeper and post on forums on your parents computer, because there is no, and I repeat, NO way anyone should spell that horribly and be allowed to type where other people may read it...

okay, I will admit it was merely a joke, since I have seen a lot of new people make their appearance on the escapist in such a style. I just thought it would be funny. Don't know what you guys thought but it was hilarious for me. Anyway time for me to be in bed night, night everyone. Is way past my bed time.

Yes, yes it did. Welcome to the escapist, by the way. And i most certainly will not be downloading a torrent of this game later. ;)

I've only played Dungeon Keeper 2, but I admit I liked it a lot. Building my own pet dungeons was some of the most fun I've had in a game, since I love the resource management, research aspect, and building/directing, plus the option of using Possession to hop into a random monster and go wandering around.

...then I tried to play the actual game and that liking went sour.

Sorry, dude, but on pretty much ANY forum, dislexia-esque spelling is HIGHLY frowned upon. Given that that was your very first post, being labelled as a troll is a given.
If you want to make a first impression,...at least try and make it a good one.

Those guys who introduce themselves in "that" way are failers and assholes (at least the ones who di it deliberately). I get the impression that you're not an asshole (your WIN leaves something to be desired, though...).

DK is a good game, though I have not played it.

Edit: *reads new topic title.*

That sounds SO wrong...

EA used it, to make Harry Potter games.
Really loved the games, remember playing DK (one of me friend lent it to me) when I was a very young lad. I loved it so much I bought a copy as soon as I was old enough... to convince my mum that the age rating was just there for show.

got DK2, loved it to then was really anticipating DK3, where I would finally be able to spread my evil above ground like butter over thick bread, and then it got cancelled. :'(

I think that one day EA will bring it out into the light, and it will then go back down again but who knows.

Oh man, blast from the past! I haven't thought about Dungeon Keeper in ages. That was such a great game! If you haven't already tried it, you might like Overlord. It's similar in concept, though not so much in play style. Still, there's a demo so give it a shot!

I've played DK1 and 2; they both ROCK!

I love it in DK2 when you get a jackpot in the casino and all the monsters start to dance.
That was awesome I remember the salamanders doing the Saturday Night fever dance to Disco Inferno.

Also the evil narrator guy "YOUR DUNGEON HAS BEEN BREACHED" "SOMEONE HAS DIED IN YOUR PRISON"

Wow, I'm surprised at the amount of people who have never heard of the game. I always thought it was one of those games that were big and popular.
The thing I remember most about them is the shadows. Seriously, they looked like the kind of pseudo-ray-traced shadows you see in today's games.
Also the big gimmick of the game was how you could control a single unit by possessing it and going first person, bashing the righteous invader knights in the form of a mutated, ugly, slimy flying ... thing!
I haven't seen a game like it since!!!

Now that I mentioned going first person on units, does anyone remember that futuristic strategy game by Microsoft? Can't remember the name, just remember that it was all planes and tanks n stuff and you were in a big command centre and there was no top down view of the battlefield like normal strategy games, just first person views and a map with icons.

Dungeon Keeper 2 was some good times. Too bad the game won't run in XP, let alone Vista.

Come on GoG re-release.

I got it to work on XP. I even got DK 1 to work, for a while at least.
Vista on the other hand can't even run ITSELF properly, so I don't know why you'd expect it to run a program.

Just as another example of how epic DK2 was...

I was playing away, must have been 3am...

I send my imps to discover a new room, and the narrator speaks...

"In the room next to you there is a soft comfy substance that restores lost stamina-"

"GO TO BED!"

I was spooked, then laughed :D

Had a few lines triggered like that, and in general the writing was excellent and well delivered by a very 'Vincent Price' style narrator.

Dungeon Keeper 2 is brilliant, however a similar game I prefer is Evil Genius. Both take hours of my time though. Even today.

It is an awesome game.
Unfortunately I know every level by heart by now (including the Deeper Dungeons).
And part 2 never really captivated me.
To all those who don't know the game: Boo! Shame on you.
This is why we don't have original games today, nobody cares if one is released.

Oh, so true. I love it. The music, the graphical style...
It's just so damn slow...
