So......Why no so much hate for the MMO version again? XD
Why does that even need to be asked?!

It is not or poorly available to Western audiences (assuming they did not suddenly open up Western Servers) and its creative design was almost exclusively the work of the studio developing it with very little oversight by E.A. who offered very little financial support.

OT: The aesthetics of the new Dungeon Keeper do not work. The game had a distinctly dark atmosphere with its own unique style that made both visually interesting and iconic. This worked in favour of the whimsically dark humour laced throughout the story and core mechanics.

This is Dungeon Keeper to me.

This is not a matter of hating on E.A. because it is E.A., it is a matter of getting mad at E.A. for making critical design decisions that go in direct opposition to the core pillars of what made a Dungeon Keeper Dungeon Keeper. Who knows, maybe the gameplay makes up for it but I will immediately call them out if they failed to update the game while preserving it.

SO they finally decide to reboot one of the greatest games I ever played and they do it on a bloody mobile?
Damn...

I don't much care whether it's EA or not (though EA does pretty much suck as a company) I just hope this brings enough interest to have a proper new Dungeon Keeper game made.
Although looking at the style of the graphics I don't know if that would be a good idea.

Ahw hell why don't they just make Dungeon Keeper 2 HD and I'll be happy.

Indeed, I was only joking about it, because not many people outside Korea [I think is fof Korea].
But I can imagine the reaction of the fans if it had a European/America release.

Also you have every right to be disappointed about the game for not look and feel like the old games.
However is better to wait until how the gameplay is and then judge for the whole package.

And I know that is fair if some people will not enjoy it only for the new look, but lets see how the game goes.

After all it isn't the first time something similar happened:

That why I will leave this comic here to see what I mean:

Ok, that was reason fricken funny. Like I admitted in my original post (just for reiterations sake) it can be done, E.A. can make this work, but you can only tamper with mechanics so much before you lose the core experience of the game your trying to reboot.

P.S. Sorry if I came off as aggressive, I am just really impassioned when game companies pull stunts like this.

PEOPLE, AN ACTUAL REAMKE FOR DUNGEON KEEPER IS ALREADY BEING MADE!!
I'm sorry for 'shouting,' but you're all acting like an actually good and faithful remake to Dungeon Keeper isn't being made RIGHT GODDAMN NOW!!

Looks a crap ton better too

A game called 'War for the Overworld' is an actual remake from the original game, and is being made by people who do actually care about making a good game, with blessings from the original creators. Hell, they're getting the original narrator to reprise his role as your announcer. Search for "War for the Overworld" and go to it's website. This project NEEDS support, and we could do a lot more for the franchise by supporting a project that is trying to make a good game instead of this...prostituting from EA.

Damn it, image came out wrong. Sorry, still getting used to this whole system. But still, people need to know about the ACTUAL remake of DK, and not some soulless clone EA pulled out it's ass (which they were probably doing to trying to do before WftOW came out...).

I wish all mobile phones would explode violently and the technology would be lost forever just so that I wouldn't have to keep watching franchises I love being rebooted on them.

Well at least the guys at War for the Overworld are making a worthy contribution to the Dungeon Keeper style of games, even using the same voice actor to narrate, this updated version from EA just looks very "childish"/to bright and colourful.
Now if only the people behind War for the Overworld would actually get anything done. I've bought it and played it's current state, and it's too much of a piece of shit to be considered a "worthy contribution". Now, it certainly has the potential to be worthy, but for the time they've been at it and the shape it's in now, I have my doubts.

And here I was thinking EA had turned a new leaf and were trying to stop being such asshats.

Well at least I get to hold onto my hatred.
If it's any consolation, the game might be absolutely terrible and be nothing more than a tarnished stain on an otherwise fantastic series, thus proving the EA doesn't actually care about the classics, but just likes the money that comes from them.

My friend, we are ALWAYS aggressive because of our nature......of a shark and of a evil face hehehehehe.

Well, I guess EA is trying to make the game more appealing to casual players.
That why they decided to make the graphic more "cute".

Lets see what happen, I am very curious as well.

What I see is EA trying to get a game out without the creative brains. The result being a clone of a game older than a decade.

Nothing new to see here, move along.

this....could actually work. The brighter color scheme doesn't bother me either as it actually ADDS to the twisted atmosphere of you controlling an evil overlord.

And yet that game i had on yesterday called Dungen Keeper will still remain better just on sole fact of it being a PC title.
However you have to admit had the dungeon keeper 1 been released today it would have been criticized to hell, there are a lot of things the games lacking, and the creature AI isnt as good as youd think. its a great game mind you but it really suffers from the "this wasnt know back then but now its a standard" thing. Just like Alpha Centauri having no tech tree. WHYYYYYYY

ALso, this might be the first game i buy for my android phone. yay?

How is it possible that some indie hasn't managed make a fun Dungeon Keeper clone yet?

Only part that makes me sad is the micro transactions.
As for the mobile part, mobile games are actually not inherently bad.

However I have to agree with what the Guppy fella said in the other thread.
The game's premise was great, but the execution I found to be lacking at best and outright flawed at worst.

It is odd to start the reboot on phones, but maybe this will lead to a proper updated PC version.
Well actually several games have been based on DK style mechanics. Most notable Evil Genius (which is a 100% riot). So the play style is actually fairly common place.
Evil Genius came out in 2004. Although it had a lot of similarities, some aspects of it were really annoying. But, yeah, it would fair to restate my question as a lack of "Dungeon Keeper/Evil Genius clones".

What other ones are there? That are good and fun? As mentioned above, Impire wasn't very good. Does the Majesty series somehow count? I don't know. It just seems like whenever Dungeon Keeper comes up, there are a lot of people wishing for a new, good game in that style. Like, X-COM/Jagged Alliance type games were like that before, but we finally got Enemy Unknown. Oh, another one: Dwarf Fortress alikes. Towns and Gnomoria try, but I think they fall pretty short. Maybe Maia will break that one.
