I am currently meant to be coding, so let's do this!

What's your favourite dungeon/lair/encounter zone/arena from any game at all? I'm rather partial to the puppeteer dungeon in The Shivering Isles that lets you toy with a party of adventurers - a first for Oblivion and a great deal of fun with a unique and potent reward at the end.

The only other quest I can think of that comes close would be the Whodunit?-style Dark Brotherhood mission, but that's a story of skullduggery and physics engine fits for another day.

EDIT:

As a tremendous pervert I am deeply disappointed in this topic. My favorite quest is the Kidnapping of Boo form the Baldur's Gate II mod Unfinished Business. Who wouldn't go hunting for a Miniature Giant Space Hamster? Come which of you wouldn't I'm looking at you and waiting for the Right answer.

Aww, and here I was hoping you were talking about the kind of love you can only find in a dungeon. Like, you've been out adventuring for weeks and haven't really had a chance to...ahem..."level up your little warrior", so you see that slime-ball monster wiggling at you enticingly and your mind starts to go to certain places..........

I see I wasn't the only one to misunderstand the title.

OT: Does the Inverted Castle in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night count as a dungeon? I just remember having my mind absolutely blown the first time I got there.

If not then I'll go with Zozo from FF6 due to it's bitchin' music:

I was totally going to go with Hestia here -

OT: Blackreach in Skyrim was the coolest/most surprising place on my first visit, but it's actually too big, too dark and a bit of a pain in the arse once you're used to it.

Vault 22 in Fallout New Vegas was very memorable and spooky as hell, and the green plant-men things that didnt appear on your radar nearly always gave me a heart attack, but I guess dreading the place isn't the same as it being my favorite is it?

For favorite I'm probably going to have to go with the original Naxxramas in WoW vanilla. Even with all the repeated wipes on Thaddius, that were often down to just 1 of 40 people lagging or messing up ("Now you feel pain!") it always felt like a cool place with encounters that gave you a real buzz when you finally beat them.

Falmer lairs used to give me wicked sick eye strain and blue spots in my vision before I installed a lighting mod. And yes, Blackreach seems like a huge cavern that was hollowed out just to be impressively big and sprinkled with some buildings that aren't connected very well. It's not really a town or a city, it's just...like something I'd build in Minecraft during a weeklong frenzy and then abandon out of boredom.

Ah well. At least Sinderion's dead.

I gotta give props to the architects of Vault Tec. You ever notice how the music gets better and darker the longer you stay down there?
