I was about to try it for the first time today and couldn't connect.
I'm hearing (just on forums) the servers were attacked and then shut down.

Anyone here try it yet? I like the idea of it interacting with a completely different game, especially something as dramatic as Eve.

I gave DUST a try, but quickly quit when I saw that when you died your gear was gone for good, since you're gonna die WAY more in DUST than you would in EVE.

EDIT: While I don't know about EVE's servers, the EVE website seems to be down as well, I guess that's kinda obvious given how intertwined the two are.

Honestly, the gear thing isn't bad. In a match you get 100k ISK and that is enough to refill your gear back up.

I played it, not great but it's ok.

I was playing on my ps3 on the aiming is a little screwy, might be down to not playing my PS3 for a couple of weeks or there is a lack of aim assist.

The matches are over WAY too quickly.

It takes ages to progress, it takes like 5 matches to get 1 level on a skill and there is 5 levels ... which then branch off onto more skills.

There is next to fuck all explanation of what the fuck is going on, my first match was a "destroy there ship" game type and there are symbols everywhere and the only ways to figure them out are 1) read the flash loading screen. 2) run up to it interact with it and work it out from there.

I have never played eve but if the menus are anything like this, HOLY SHIT! Just lists of guns with numbers and information and stuff.

They have this weird mechanic where you can run out of guns and have to rebuy supplies. It's like real life in sense, if you die on the field you lose your first gun, so when you respawn you have gun #2, if you respawn again you get #3 etc so you have resupply guns.

Welcome to CCP's world. I think in EVE it would take like 10 years of constant training to get all your skills. The whole point of this is to force you to specialize.

Hehe, yeah CCP and explaining don't go well together.

Unless i'm mistaking that's done to get an economy going on. On the long run EVE players will be able to make Dust stuff (unless they gave up on the idea) and so you will get a market of Dust items. It's actually a much better system than games where you never lose your stuff and the economy is unexistant.

PS: according to the eve facebook page both dust and eve servers were DDoS'ed
