I keep myself healthy by running around pretending to be a ninja. Throw a few fireballs, a roundhouse or two, run close to a wall and tilt your torso so it looks like youre running along it, practise your 4-hit combos and such.

So what if im 23. As an 'adult' i get to define what that means =P

It's not the gaming really, but yes, prolonged sitting can cause clots to form. DVT is extremely dangerous. Acute DVT (deep vein thrombis) is more deadly because is has a highly chance of breaking off and traveling through the blood stream.
Why would anyone just SIT somewhere for hours upon hours?

Excessive gaming?

Maybe it has to do with the gross amount of inactivity. Just an idea.
That's the great thing about motion controls :D

Just think, a kinect would have saved his life!
Just think! Electrified surfaces would have saved his life too! Now that's a good idea for a game: WiiFit - Extreme edition! Can you keep your balance while 10, 000 volts passes through your genitals!?

The father didn't blame gaming per-se. He did say that his son sat and played it for hours and that there is a danger from it. I had recently read a medical study that stated that the sitting position is more dangerous than anyone ever thought http://health.yahoo.net/experts/menshealth/most-dangerous-thing-youll-do-all-day

I don't think movement controllers like the Wii, Kinect or Move will do much to alleviate the problem. It's all on the gamer to get up and move around at least once an hour.
