Dynasty Warriors One Piece?

So I just read a rather interesting article about the latest announcement from Bandai and Tecmo about the new Dynasty Warriors game. Yup, you guessed it: One Piece. Because it's clearly the most obvious choice of franchise to crossover into the series (not)

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this, any ideas how the gameplay would be affected and whether or not it'll be any good, particularly from fans of either series.

Personally I like One Piece and I liked Dynasty Warriors a while ago. I hear the recent one was pretty good but I never played any past DW4. Honestly I don't think this will be all that great, but it sounds interesting all the same.

Well the current arc and the last arc both featured wars, so I could actually see it working in the context of a game. That and all the Marine mooks that the Straw Hats go though.

I can totally see the cast of One Piece fitting into a Dynasty Warriors gameplay setting.

Though frankly, I think they'd probably fit more readily into Sengoku Basara. Who wouldn't want to see a fight between Zoro and Masamune?

Spoiler: They would probably argue over who's multi-wielding style is more improbable.

Not familiar at all with One Piece but every time I see a Dynasty Warriors spin-off like this or Gundam, more questions spring to mind... like why don't they apply the gameplay style to something I'd actually know or like? I answer to that is, the things I like are too old or obscure obviously but I can dream.

I've always been a fan of Dynasty Warriors, I like that for most of the time playing it, I don't have to think, I just have to mow down people. Sometimes, I just want a mindless button masher "beat'em up" and I wish more people would appreciate them. Truthfully, I'd rather see Koei work with someone like Sega to do a proper modern Golden Axe... "Dynasty Warriors Golden Axe" ... because 'Beast Rider' sucked ass.

I get it though, Koei is only adapting Manga/Anime like Fist of the North Star, Gundam, and this. If they can make me a "Dynasty Warriors Bubblegum Crisis" based on the original 80s OVA and not that Anti-Christ 90s TV series, I'll be all on board for sure.
