So I'm kinda interested in getting an e-reader. Does anyone here have experience with the Kindle ones? What are they like? My biggest concern is not having the actual hardware buttons for page turning, and touchscreen. I'm imagining you cannot even get near the screen with a finger before you've marked text or turned a page when you didn't want to. Because, apparently, God forbid someone would be holding the e-reader with the fingers on the page like a book.

So basically, how are your experiences with the touch-screen Kindles?
I love my kindle fire, it's not finicky at all. I used to be one of the physical book puritans, but the kindle I got for Christmas won me over. It's easy to turn the pages, but I've never had any problem with it doing it automatically. Furthermore, there are a TON of free books available, most of them classics. If its in the public domain then it's almost guaranteed to be freely available. I've only bought maybe two books on my kindle, but I must have well over fifty on there by now that I got for nothing. It also has comixology, if that's your thing, and it's got special options kindle reading.

It also makes it easy to get hard to find or out of print books, if you're weird like me, and like unusual reads. Try finding the Poetic Eda at your local book store. It can be pretty tiring. Finally, it can save you the trip if your feeling too lazy to go to the store, or if the store is closed. I love my physical library, but the kindle is just so convenient. I would highly recommend one.

I got a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas, I love it. I bought a case like this though:

Mine looks like a fancy copy of Dracula, but they do quite a wide range.
Which makes holding it quite easy and much like an actual book. The areas that you would really hold on a real book aren't screen so it's not a problem. Getting used to the controls was a little tricky for my ridiculous caveman-hands (the Paperwhite has no buttons) but it's really no trouble. Honestly, it's not bad.
