Wolfenstein II?

Isnt it like, the third or fourth? Cause though its not obvious, one of the older ones the 2009 one I think, is canon to The New Order. Thats where that woman in a wheelchair came from anyways.

All the Wolfenstein series is congruent (at least according to this retrospective).

Life Is Strange 2: Origin of Chloe

cause that's what we really needed
Needed? Probably not, no. Chloe and Rachel's story was told efficiently enough in LiS, without needing to go into extra detail.

Wanted though? Oh hell yeah. Chloe's character has a massive fan-base (among fans of the game itself of course), and there is certainly room to explore everything that happened with Rachel since we really don't know a whole lot about her. Then there are people like me, who are just ecstatic about the idea of jumping back into the world of LiS in general. I'm already psyched for it!

Please, look at this indie darling made by 3 people in their shed
What about this work, which is entirely driven by a passionate artist with no hooks from companies who care about profit.

Etc etc etc.

Hipsters everywhere!

Everything makes sense now!
I can't tell if this is a joke or not. Are you being Ironic? Are you being a hipster and just deflecting by calling others hipsters?

Good lord. These people know we've been shooting Nazis in Wolfenstein since before Doom existed, right? Why get all offended these days?

If I'm honest, over the first three shows (EA, Xbox, Bethesda), I am complete underwhelmed.

I mean Bioware's new IP might be cool, but I haven't seen enough of it to get all that hyped about. The new Madden might be interesting to play with the story mode, as I do like the story-modes in the past few NBA games. Otherwise EA bores me.

The new Xbox looks fucking worthless and expensive for nothing. It isn't going to be powerful enough to compete with PC and it isn't a big enough upgrade over the Xbone to warrant spending 500 bucks for. Hell at least playstation understood that people aren't going to pay big bucks for a slight upgrade, and I feel like the Pro is at least a better value for a similar experience. Then again, I don't have a 4K TV, so maybe I just don't understand true gaming yet. Then they came out with 42 games, which to me feels like they saw how Sony beat them up last year by having a ton of amazing games, and MS just responds this year with quantity over quality. Sure a few of those seem like stand out titles, but only two or three and none of them interest me enough to want to buy a new Sex box XXX.

Bethesda, good lord, okay so...At least they announced a new Wolfenstien, considering the NEw Order was awesome, I have high hopes for this one. Everything else, is a bag of dicks. A big ol' bag of dicks. People didn't like the paid mod idea on Steam, I don't see how they'll like it now. Skyrim on Switch, we new about it already, do people still care? I'm frankly sick of seeing Skyrim everywhere. Skyrim and Minecraft need to go away now. The Evil Within wasn't a good game, and the sequel means less than nothing to me. I dunno, i really just don't enjoy most of Bethesda's games, so I have a hard time giving a shit.

Hopefully Sony comes out with a better show.

Crackdown 3 - Guys, this is just a hunch, but I think they hired Terry Crews. I can't be sure though, they're being real subtle about it. But where did the destruction physics go? Wasn't that the game's big selling point?

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider - Oh hey it's her! And him! Wait... did he just call her... oh. Oh. Ohhhhhhhh. Right. (I haven't finished Dishonored 2 yet, so this probably wasn't a surprise to other people. Neat trailer by the way.)

Ori and the Will of the Wisps - Fucking gorgeous trailer. No joke. Lovely music too. Probably not for me though. The first one completely failed to grab me. Bit of a shame cause it seemed like a nice game. Oh, and it's Windows 10 only. Fuck you very much Microsoft.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Uh... really? I have a soft spot for LiS, but this seems ill advised on multiple levels.

Code Vein - My God. It's as if every single thing in this trailer, literally every single thing, was specifically designed to look utterly fucking hideous. It's like looking into the aesthetic equivalent of a black hole.

Wolfenstein The New Colossus - Colour me mildly intrigued. I hope I like it more than the first one.

Shadow of War - Looks like decent fun. Also looks completely at odds with the LotR brand. Would have been better as a Warhammer game.

The Last Night and Ashen look interesting, but not enough to go on. Hopefully they're available on sensible platforms for sensible people at some point.

Who knows, maybe Shinji Mikami finally remembered he's the guy who brought us Resident Evil 4, and this sequel will actually be good instead of the pool of rancid piss that was The Evil Within 1. One can hope.

Fair enough.

For the most part I feel like games have forgotten what makes a horror game good. However, Resident Evil 7 was really really good. So Evil Within 2 COULD work, but they aren't exactly coming from a good original game, so I don't have that same hope.

E3 has been pretty bad this year compared to previous ones. My Quick Highlight Summary:
EA: Sports Games Circlejerk, We're doing the free maps and gamemodes thing with Battlefront 2 now (are we the good guys yet?) but not Battlefield as we're too invested in the money it will bring, A Way Out which we totally plan to have interesting challenges in and Anthem is something new we're doing but we are not going to tell you actual details today as Microsoft paid us for our footage.

Microsoft: Xbox One Scorpio has been renamed by Prof. Utonium and will be releasing in November as the true 4K and someone is getting fired over this edition, Decent Reveal of new Metro Game, Ori: More fantasy platforming in 4K, State of Decay 2: The name fits edition, Sea of Thieves: the latest from Microsoft's Imprisoned and Impoverished dev team, Crackdown 3: We'll just gloss over this as it doesn't bring us as much appeal as it did when we shilled it the first two times, More LiS: Circlejerk to Teenage angster Chloe edition (find out why she was chosen to be a sacrifice for the ancient bay city old gods, possible links to Vampyr or a completely invaluable story like the last one?), a bunch of indie games ranging from meh to alright and finally Destiny 3: Hal- I mean the Anthem Reveal with a CGI Cutscene and completely scripted 'gameplay' trailer and pretty bad VO. Did I mention that it's Destiny?

Bethesda: Circlejerk about games that have been out for ages, shilling Legends as it's not making them enough money, ESO just got an expansion so please go buy it, Oh hey guess what Fallout 4 and Doom for VR (no not that Doom another Doom named VFR or something similar) it's totally worth it!, oh remember we said we were bringing skyrim to the switch? we're still doing that but not saying when, for now just check out how a link Amibo will dress you in some guys armour mod, oh hey did we say mods? yeah paid modding is back and in our favour, modders will see barely anything from credits whilst we say thank you, what's that about thanks? No wait tanks? goofy Wolfenstein 2 reveal set in America, the BJ is back and his accent sounds stronger than ever also he lost his legs, drama, Dishonored 2 dlc, also The Evil Within 2: Electric Boogaloo (we'll explain even less in this one so we can feel justified in making a third), Best thing is all we have shown is being released this year. [sub][sub][sub][sub]What even Skyrim on Switch?[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub] No put your hand down as we're prioritising paid modding over it.

I hope tomorrow actually has some worth.

I suspect the issue with the notion of free Battlefield 1 expansions is that in effect they already sold them with the season passes. So giving them away for free now would at the very least necessitate giving refunds to anyone who bought a season pass.

Hmm that's true I completely forgot they had already had a season pass up and listed for the game before it had even released, it would be a very "when pigs fly" thing for EA to refund money after they've gotten it too. I guess it would have been better if I suggested how they're only giving free dlc alongside the IPs that haven't been doing so well to try and encourage a bigger crowd towards them. Though with the dwindling attention that Titanfall 2 has I don't doubt they'll try and spin that free dlc is bad for games at some point in the future.

The Evil Within is a worthy successor to RE4. It made it easier for me to finally drop the Resident Evil series, which hasn't been good since Mikami left it.
Eh 5 and 7 weren't too bad, 6 is pretty bad and the revelations were meh at best and bland at worst. I do agree that Resident Evil 4 was one of the best but I wouldn't say The Evil Within was a successor as much a homage. (e.g. The whole town reference near the start, the ancient tombs and las plagas/parasite references) I also don't like The Evil Within as much considering it left a lot unsaid and unexplained even with it's dlc, not to mention the ending wasn't clear about whether the big bad escaped a la Wesker Style or died and I'm not looking forward another game of chasing after Ruvik through his twisted mindscape whilst some unexplained drama of sebastian's vagues about in the background.

It's about as worthy a successor as Resident Evil 6 was, with a player controlled character that moved like a plastic action figure, a camera that was way too close, enemies that were placed haphazardly, a convoluted, boring story with equally boring characters, and an ugly, generic visual design. Though I guess The Evil Within has one up on awfulness over RE6 with that totally necessary and none obstructive letterboxing. It makes me wonder if there was any quality control with either of these games.

But at least we got Tyrannicon's death rage montage out it.

Someday I'd like to finish TEW but I uninstalled to save space during my latest round of Steam cleaning. After about 4-5 chapters I didn't dislike it, and the controls felt butter-smooth even using DS4Windows.

Casual Shinji it was a far cry from controlling or moving like a plastic action figure. That would be like something from Platinum Games. From what I've played it felt far more like TLoU.

It is derivative though and one of those games I have to be in a certain mood for as it's pretty slow paced. I've even heard someone say it's the survival horror equivalent of Souls, but that's a bit of a stretch. It definitely at least controlled better than RE4 and still felt like survival horror. Maybe if I get a new PC before Halloween I'll get back into it.

I want to say "Oh fuck off, Bioware" (got a good chuckle out of that one, Zhukov, and a large part of me agrees), but I suspect me and my mates will play the shit out of Anthem together.

If it doesn't get goofed up spectacularly, which is always a very real possibility.

I haven't really been paying attention to E3 any further. It's always a load of bollocks, I've simply been playing games instead of reading about them, and I got a cat for my birthday with whom I've been going on terrific adventures, exchanging witty quips. One only has so much time, hasn't one?

Well, I'd have to completely disagree with that. Your character lacks any real weight and he animates stiffly. The way he controls and the way the camera is positioned never gives you the feeling that you're ever in control over any situation, be it enemies, traps, or one of the numerous 'running away from shit' moments. There's always the fear of a cheapshot/insta-kill waiting right outside of your peripheral vision.

Just running around with a torch shows what a shoddy mess this game is. You might call it nitpicking, but seeing as you're using that torch quite a bit, it's riduculous nobody on the development team cared about the fact that the fire is clipping right through the guy's chest whenever you're running.
It definitely at least controlled better than RE4

The really pathetic thing is that a not-insignificant part of me was still hoping that they'd come out swinging and blow us all away. And for a few seconds of the preview I was thinking, "Maybe...?"

But nope.

It's third-person Destiny with zero story hooks. "A lush, open world you can explore with your friezzzzZZZZZzzzzzzz..."

The teaser trailer ALONE reeked of Destiny. By the time the gameplay demo came out it was just a confirmation.

Call me crazy but a game with MMO-conventions lives and dies by character attachment. Encasing everyone's character in faceless, characterless suits of space armor does not seem like a recipe for success.

From a recent interview (like last night) its seems that in singleplayer you wont have all the destruction but in multiplayer you will. Basicly what was already going on with the earlier versions.

Very pleased to hear Wolfenstein: The New Order is getting a sequel and BJ's doing okay. Is that the corpse of Caroline Becker in the trailer though?

You're certain?

I mean, you're the authority here, I can't definitively say any different. But I always thought it was the social aspect of MMOs that really got its claws into people. My only real experience with MMOs was Planetside 2 and I can say with confidence that if I'd ever managed to find a stable, well populated clan in that sweet spot of hardcore-but-not-too-hardcore I would have stuck around for a lot longer and more consistently than I did.

Or is this one of those silent majority type situations where clan hijinks get all the attention while in fact most players are quietly grinding away on their lonesome?

Regardless, I could actually see myself getting attached to a collection of exo-suits if they came with enough customization for me to make them distinctly mine.
