Sony showed some lovely 3d shots of various new exclusives such as Killzone 3 and Motorstorm Apocalypse; not to mention that PS Move is now slated for outing in Europe first on September 15th.

Microsoft mainly talked about Kinect and slated 3D as a passing technology because they've only just realised that they have massively missed out on it,

Nintendo did something, erm, the 3DS was it? Oh and that new Wii-Mote that's going to get its ass handed to it by PS Move.

What are your thoughts on this year? Who got/deserves the most limelight?

My thoughts on E3 can be summed up like this.

<spoiler=From Cracked> [http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k20/fix-the-spade/Not%20Bike/?action=view&current=25275.jpg]

Although Nintendo's efforts weren't bad, I can't see the other two mounting any kind of serious challenge to their domination in the next few years.

To be honest none of ther three main parties showed me anything that made me think holy shit and wet my pants. However, as a owner of the 360 i'm going with microsoft, not because what they showed was any good, but because both Halo Reach and Gear 3 looked awesome and those games made me wet my pants (reach much more so than gears), yet somehow I don't consider them quite part of Microsofts annoucement.

Though I think the award for best trailer might have to go The Old Republic, between that and decieve I want that game even though I know nothing about it.

Mortal Kombat 9 blew my mind personally, I respect any game that goes so far as to individually model the insides of fighters for extra gruesomness.
I haven't been this excited for an mk game in a very long time.

If we're talking about the three big companies then Nintendo wiped the floor with Sony and Microsoft - it's pretty amazing that they finally do what everyone has asked them to do for years - release old classics and "hardcore" games - yet when they focus a conference near exclusively on this and some amazing technology (the 3DS) people still try to claim the other companies "won"...

Sony's was interesting, in places. It took them forever to get to the games, and when they did they were pretty uninspired; Killzone 3 looked grey, Little Big Planet looked creative - it just lacked any real surprise. Playstation move looked interesting; particularly that sorcery game, but If I want motion control I'll buy a Wii - it has a far superior range of games (whatever Move gets released with, it's not going to better Mario Galaxy 2).

Microsoft's was just embarrassing - I was looking for a reason from them not to bother buying either a Wii or PS3 (which I'll buy I'm undecided on) and they didn't deliver at all - they spent way to much time on Kinect; whilst the technology looks far superior to that of Move or the Wii, the games they displayed just didn't meet the standards; the only thing that looked particularly interesting was Ubisoft's fitness game - for the type of people that want something like that it'll be great - but it's not a game...

In all E3 was pretty disappointing; there were no real stand-out games presented (I had hoped to see either The Last Guardian or Final Fantasy VS XIII - guess I'll wait until TGS) and the conferences were all pretty boring.

I loved it.

It had all the games and hardware that I am looking forward to so what more can I ask for.

Rock Band 3 is the only game to stir some interest from me and that was just before E3.

PS Move will be released with about 20 games apparently, so you'll hardly be stuck for choice. Nintendo had a technical breakdown with the new Wii-Mote because of wireless and 3g networks interfering with the connection while PS Move went without a hitch.

The 3DS is also a bit gimmicky and will most likely not have graphics to rival a PS3 and 360 as Nintendo said it would. The 3D is a bit much too.

Was personally hoping for a PSP 2 announcement, that would have made 3DS look like a bit of a fool but hey, you can't have everything.

Ok, it's not about the number of games - it's the quality of games; the games Sony displayed were, to put it bluntly, shit. The only game that looked even remotely interesting was Sorcery - the rest were just gimmicks (such as the integration of Move into SOCOM 4). There won't be any games as strong as Nintendo's first party games - that much is certain.

They never said that at all - stop being such a fanboy - third party, anonymous developers stated it had similar processing power; which it probably does, to display the 3D - the fact the games on the 3DS look as good as those on the Wii is a testament to that.

Was personally hoping for a PSP 2 announcement, that would have made 3DS look like a bit of a fool but hey, you can't have everything.
Yeah, because the PSP GO was such a huge success...I doubt anything Sony could have come up with would have been as interesting as the 3DS.

I'm hardly being a fanboy, i tend to stay out of the whole console war thing and stick to PC but as far as i can see Sony did the best. You were kinda gushing about Nintendo, so call yourself a fanboy before calling anyone else, i kinda hoped we could get through this thread without name calling, so lets cut this before it just flares up into a flame war.

I'm personally not that excited about 3D, i might get a 3D tv when the prices stop being so ludicrous but for now im good with old fashioned 2D.

I don't believe that for one second - take a look at your post - you didn't try to justify that Sony did better - you actively insulted the other two companies and ignored any faults Sony's presentation had.

You were kinda gushing about Nintendo, so call yourself a fanboy before calling anyone else, i kinda hoped we could get through this thread without name calling, so lets cut this before it just flares up into a flame war.
I don't even own a Wii and have a DS I never use, but I could easily see that Nintendo had the better press conference; the fact you make bullshit claims like "The PSP2 would have made the 3DS look like a fool" without fact or reasoning makes you a fanboy.

Really? Because that was kinda the big plus you mentioned in your OP that Sony had over the competition... You're not even a good troll....

I'm really not trying to be a troll, this is a bit silly how its become a slagging off contest. I'm not going to try to change your mind on whether or not im a fanboy because your mind is already firmly set.

So i guess i'll just try and ask you a fairly neutral question about what product from E3 you'll most be looking forward to?

Let's see:

Microsoft: Kinect allows you to do everything the wii will let you do.
Sony: You can play 3-D games as long as you have a 3,000 dollar 3D Television, and special glasses costing you 150 more
Nintendo: You can play handheld games in 3D without any glasses whatsoever.

The rest was all stuff we heard about before. I still think Nintendo wins.

(Yes, most if not all of this was taken from Cracked.)

Too many gimmicks, not enough games. Microsoft spent most of its time talking about Kinect, and Sony spent almost as long with the Move, but at least they had more games to show off. And then there was the 3D.

Also, the games themselves didnt seem to have as much wow factor as usual. Didnt notice much of anything that could be considered Game of the Year material, except for the usual suspects Halo and Call of Duty which Im getting sick of. Dont get me wrong. Im excited for a few of the games. Bulletstorm for one.

I'm honestly not too keen on Black Op's, but then again i kinda don't like CoD atm. I much prefer Bad Company 2 but thats just me.

We can only hope that a really deserving game gets that award this year. I think Killzone 3 would be in with a chance though, at least a nomination.

I'm pretty sure you have your PSN acc linked to your escapist one so... The evidence is adding up. (yes you're a fanboy get over it, no evidence or anything about a PSP2, and we can compare past handhelds and their success if you really think the PSP2 (if it ever comes out) is truly going to take over the DS's success.)

Again, I own all systems and have to say Nintendo did the best by far, but then again I'm sick of gimmicks so that may make me somewhat biased.

Overall I didn't really like this years E3, I was in tears yesterday watching Konami (if anyone else was I'm pretty sure so were you), I was also laughing my tits off at Microsoft and Ubisoft and nearly fell asleep at all of Sony's ads. None of the games shown / announced had me mildly interested, sorcery just looked like auto aim wagglan. Portal 2 looks great from the demo though. Now if I go on to explain how much I enjoyed a lot (by no means all) of Nintendo's conference I'll sound like a fanboy. Personally I couldn't care for the 3DS because I just cba to play handhelds, but games like Kirby, Zelda and DK:C, which were being shown, but only shown ONCE (sony...), but the show was game after game (and some REGGIE), instead of ad after ad, or silly gimmick game after silly gimmick or dancing or fitness (with hilarious staged dialogue (microsoft or ubisoft with their breathing game).

To sum it up, I was really disappointed, however I had a good laugh.

I saw nothing of an Elder Scrolls V, and I died a little on the inside. The new Fallout looks great, but I neeeeds a new TES.

That. No TESV makes me a sad panda. And when it comes, it better not be a bloody MMO.

On the bright side, the 3DS looks brilliant, with a great selection of games too.
