Buy in store copies of Skyrim, and Saints Row the Third. Have to register on Steam. wat?
Well, you can have Steam, OR the publisher of the game will have to use development money to make their own form of DRM. How often is that DRM any good? Or even works properly?

So which would you rather have?
Or god forbid they could lisence Starforce or one of its ilk ~.~
I think its an advertisement thing too. Frontpage coverage on a platform that big? Holy fuck, if I could put a game on there, I would.

Uhhhh...you read the article, right? If not the entirety of it, then at least the first sentence, right? Right?!

Not trying to be a dick here, but really, the article began with explaining that Dead Space isn't going the horror route in this next installment ('cause really, how many times can one be scared of Necromorphs jumping out of holes in the wall?), but now it's become a battle between mankind and the kinda-like-man-but-in-weird-shapes...erm...kind. Anywho, the point is, the game will be more focused on you removing this scourge entirely rather than the struggle to keep your pants unsoiled.
No matter what the article says, the actual DEVELOPERS keep insisting that the horror and scares and slow-burn tension of the original games will still be present, especially in solo-play. Granted, they could be lying, and the sheer audacity to include multiplayer isn't reassuring, but they keep saying that, no, it's still a HORROR-action game, and the horror elements have not been eliminated.

The article can say whatever it wants, but until I see whether or not the game avoids the "horror route", I'll trust them. While I have skepticism, I have loved all three of major Dead Space games, and if they could manage to keep all the scares, tension, horror, and thrills on the Wii shooter, Extraction, I have faith they can do so for Dead Space 3.

That sounds more powerful than that useless rivot gun from 2. Don't get me wrong, Dead Space 2 was pretty fun but they could have done better for the pre order bonus than give out a very 'situational' weapon like that.

actually, if you keep up with how things work these days, preorder bonuses don't really mean anything after the game of the year "we hope you didn't notice that we put all of the stuff in later at a way cheaper price" version comes out

frankly most preorder bonuses are a sham these days if it's not physical limited edition stuff

basically you'd be not just a chump, but a DOUBLE chump if you get two preorders just for minor things and the bonuses don't always cross between game copies

Doesn't really matter to be honest. The game will be tied to Origin so that makes it a no-buy to me. I will not tolerate malware on my computer.

So its confirmed that it's with Origin? Or is this an assumption?

Because I'm still not going to get it either way, I'm just wondering.

Well, this is EA marketing we're talking about here...

Glad I never got into this series.
For me, the series was over after DS 2. DS 1, while filled with plotholes, at least led to the possibility of a sequel (though where they went with it was a bit of a stretch). However, by the end of DS 2, there really wasn't anything left open implying there'd be a third one.

And yeah, as for the "Action-Horror" vs "Survival-Horror" vs "Bland 3rd Person Shooter" debate, look at it this way. Did you find anything particularly "horrifying" about Resident Evil 5? Because I'm almost willing to put money on the bet that this game will basically be RE:5 except with Space Zombies instead of standard zombies. "But that's basically all the DS series is!" Well at least in the first two games you were alone, at least attempting to give you the feeling of isolation. In this game you're gonna have a buddy walking around with you, making what had always been rather easy combat into even more of a joke. It should go without saying that the less you have to fear, the less scary a game will be. And any game where an already overpowered player character is matched up with an equally overpowered partner, there's really not much for either player to be worried about.

Loud, sudden noises do not scare, they startle.

Considering all their releases feature it I'd bet money on it. It's a real shame as I wanted to get Crysis 3 as well but alas Origin is required for that too. If there were Origin free versions I'd definitely buy both Crysis 3 and Deadspace 3. I've liked all the games from these series immensely and I'd like to support them but I won't accept malware on my computer.

I like to think that I have learned from my mistakes, and the lesson was - never pre-order anything with an EA logo on it. Besides, weapons and armor are just fanny packs and add next to nothing to the game apart from breaking it if they are overpowered. I'm looking at you Blood Dragon Armor from Dragon Age: Origins.

Besides, I've Dead Space for both PC and XBOX (heavily discounted) and both versions failed to draw me in.

Blind EA hate. I have Origin, and my computer has yet to burst into flames. The last I checked, it was actually better than Steam in a number of regards although it was missing some features. (Didn't have a screenshot feature, was more stable than Steam, etc)

I really, really want this game to be good. I'm a (mostly) avid fan of the first two.

Sure, they both had their failings. (what game doesn't?) Even so, I enjoyed the hell out of them. They weren't the scariest survival-horror games, but damned if they weren't atmospheric and fun.

With that in mind, I'm a tad concerned with the direction EA is forcing this series to go in. I fear it'll become just another soulless, listless, testosterone filled, action 3rd person shooter. Something akin to Gears of War.

Some might not think that a bad thing, but considering the basis of the series, a switch to that style of game just won't work. At least, I can't see how it could.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

. . . . . . . . . . .

As for the pre-order bonuses, I just don't care. Things like this are superfluous anyway, so I'll just buy the game (if I decide to) at the place of lower price and higher convenience.

Funny, I've had more instability issues with Origin in the past year than I have with Steam in the past five.

But, I suppose that's the nature of PC gaming. When you have a software environment filled with thousands if not millions of architecture/hardware variants, issues are inevitably going to pop up.

I guess there's some truth to the phrase, "Individual experiences may vary."

And the Line Gun. All hail the Line Gun.
Pfft! The line gun is a plasma cutter FOR GURLZ ;-)
Ah hell no, that can't be a possible insult my Line Gun. Me and him, man, me and him go way back, we're buds.

I remember this one time me and him were just riding along in the neighborhood, he got this new ride and I got this awesome CD, and then we were attacked by Necromorphs. We fought through 'em, man, we made it through rough times.
