Well, it's pretty obvious that Isaac is the hands-on expert at necromorph neutralising. That's why he's brought back to tell the kill team what's what. That's how shit works. Aliens, anyone?
That's why I'm confused about everyone ripping on them for saying he's the only one... we're all nerds here... we've all scene aliens ... we should know how it goes lol

I know everyone else will flip out at this idea but I hope this means they're finally going to be personifying Isaac and giving him a voice. His mute protagonist bit was always jarring to me and not carried off as well as in other games. I'd love for him to be a deadpan snarker with gallows humor as a result of his previous trials.

Second, Dead Space always WAS a shooter. It was an atmospheric shooter- ammunition was very plentiful and the focus was always on killing all the enemies infront of you to proceed. It was a Horror Shooter, not Survival Horror, where the point is to avoid the monsters. I don't care if I get loaded down with more firepower as long as they maintain atmosphere to make my inevitable juggernaught rampage of destruction all the more satisfying as I finally take revenge on the monsters that have scared me for so long.

Third, I SWEAR I WILL FINISH THAT DOT OF THE GAME

Wow, I never thought there would be so many great games coming out that I'd actually start to complain about it. Seriously, this is like the 50th game that is probably going to be worth getting.

Yes, that does sound logical...

Still wouldn't it be more efficient to train these space marines in aiming for the extremities rather than to send one guy out there who -and I'm assuming- has never before killed anyone before the events that took place in the Ishimura? It makes sense to send Isaac out there alone again from an atmospheric point of view (there's nothing scary about facing aliens with 5 other guys right behind you), but from a strategic point of view it doesn't make sense.

Now if they would make it so that Isaac would be stuck somewhere again, completely alone except for when he gets to a comm. station or something so he can communicate very briefly with his superiors to find out what to do next I can get behind that a lot faster than an engineer being dropped off somewhere Halo-style to kill Necromorphs only to be picked up after.

All I'm saying is that when they say "Isaac calls the shots" it sounds like he won't be stranded somewhere facing extremely high odds of death (which is what kind of set the mood for the first game). He would rather be shooting it up in an area comparable to The Parish in Left 4 Dead 2, which sounds a hell of a lot less scary to me.

I hope I'm wrong and they find a way to make the sequel a lot more frightening than its predecessor. Something along the lines of he does get dropped in some desolate area filled with Necromorphs only to be picked up after, but he just doesn't get picked up. :p
If I read right, it sounds as though Isaac becomes the head of a squad, though I like your thinking, gets dispatched to either clear out a colony or rescue someone from a colony or ship, and the ship they came in on gets infected or something.

EDIT: Didn't see this one.

you are the only one that survives.

God, spoilers much?
I didn't put it in spoilers as that's already pretty much given away in one of the trailers

Has been put in spoilers either way, though

w00t. I'm just psyched. The first one was WAY more fun than I thought it would be. I didn't play it for the plot (even though it wasn't bad. It wasn't KOTOR or anything), I played it because it was great graphics, great controls, solid interface, and just plain ol' fun!

What about where his dead girlfriend attacks him at the end? Just some psychological trauma from everything he's been through?
I think that actually happened, he kicked her ass. With a lot of mixed feelings of dread and love and self-loathing of course. Come to think of it, if this will cause Isaac to become some emotionally scarred heap of tears the sequel is not going to be fun.

Given how many necromorphs i've beaten to death with my bare hands so far, I figure MY Isaac can handle one dead chick.

There's a reason we put all that in spoilers.
But yeah, whose Isaac hasn't drop kicked 50 babies already.
