I just received an e-mail announcing a settlement between EA and consumers of it's Murican Football franchises between 2005 and 2012. It looks like your normal class action announcement. Is this some new phishing trick? Was there a class-action lawsuit filed and what the complaint?
Does anyone know what this is about?

There's a couple news articles about it, though not from major sources (terms were only announced today if correct, see if anybody picked it up in a few days). Also, the email could be phishing even if the settlement it talks about is real, so I'd wait a week and then look at claiming your 5-20$ (also, apparently if EA has your address from registering games with them they'll send you a check automatically).

Basically anyone who bought "new" copies of EA American Football games are due an amount of money depending on the games they have and what console they have it on.
