As long as they don't force achievements where you have to be online to get them into single player games, i'm good for it.
QFT.
I've done my fair share of Counter-strike and TF2, but playing console games online has never been an intrest of mine. I want that game time to be spent on a solo experience.
I also love achievementing. Online achievements are usually rediculous or hard to get(in a non-difficult but time sinking way) in my experience... and the community sucks as well.

Am I the only one who disconnects themselves from the internet so they can play a single player game without anyone bothering them?
I do this when I play Demon's Souls. Once my game got invaded by some other player and I didn't know what the hell was going on. After a few seconds he started sending me messages about how awesome he was etc etc. When I didn't show up(I still have no clue where I was supposed to meet him or what that was about) he became angry.
Turned off my game since he didn't disappear and since then I've disconnected before starting up. It's better that way anyways since now I don't have to see all the messages littered all over the worlds.

...and people have to stop accepting the idea of punishing used buyers.

The second hand / pirated version will not be able to access this additional content without further purchase. If you know that before you buy the second hand copy, how is that a punishment?
Used is not pirated.
I did not say used == pirated.

I said used < new (if new can access extra online content that the used or pirated version will not be able to).

Clearly a new object (physical good) has greater value than a used one (and warranties are used to show/enhance this 'new' value).

This is not true of digital goods, as they do not degrade/wear/need repair like physical goods do. Adding extra value/content to only new games appears to be a good solution.

You only help pirates with an attitude like that.
How exactly is offering an incentive to buy new (over used) helping piracy?

You keep asserting this is a conspiracy against used sales (ignoring that the US courts are clearly supporting the used market) but never offer any actual reasons why/how.

You sound like a pirate disappointed that you will not be able to access all the game without paying for the developers hard work.

it sounds like they're gonna focus more on multiplayer than on single player. i never buy games for online play. if the game doesn't have a good single player mode its not worth my money.

The day a game company stops making games people can play alone is the day that company nukes themselves. Humankind may (mostly) be a social lot, but everyone needs "me time" once in awhile.

I seriously do not get what the value of all this social b.s. is.
Leaderboards ? Achievements ? Getting friend-notifications while playing ?
Are we seriously needing attention THAT badly ?

If somebody finds a way to actually ENHANCE my gaming experience through an online component, FINE. But getting notified that "Buttface-McGee has just beaten my high-score", while I try to murder virtual people, doesn´t really float my boat.

P.S.: On a personal note, I cringe whenever I hear a buisness person talk like this. Having been in a position, where a dude like that can actually ORDER me to do stuff, I now get the programmer equivalent of ´nam flashbacks.
