The lore in World of Warcraft is as strong as it's ever been, stronger even (at least within the MMORPG)
You're fucking with me, right? They've made sure to thoroughly ass rape every bit of good lore that there was to be found in World of Warcraft. Not only have they begun to repeat the same stories that have already been told in the older games/books, but they let you kill key characters in the story which should have been too powerful to combat, even with 300 people.

Add Space Elves to that and you've got some real bullshit stew. Not Draenor, that was fine...Warcraft is a world of magic, and the portals made sense. But the fact that they literally had Draenei and Blood Elves flying around in spacecraft in some of the new lore; fucking retarded. How hard is it really to simply stick to your medieval setting?

The few bits of lore that they do get right are stories that were already covered in the books. Like in many of the Caverns of Time quests. But everything new that they've attempted to write, and everything they've attempted to edit from past lore, is all worse than the stuff coming out of tubgirl.
You have made me a very happy woman man with that. :] Sending friend request.

As for EA taking a bit more of the work/profits, I don't really care. I like EA, I really do. And while some of their recent decisions, especially regarding Medal of Honor, was questionable, I am more than happy they show such support on this game by backing it up all they can.

I know TOR has a spot on my shelf, as I know that anything else BioWare puts out shall be. After all, Imma be working for them in the near future. ;]

Well, I have a front row seat to this particular show and I'll say two things: first, the 300 million dollar number was about as accurate as an arrow in a windstorm. Second, I'm just not worried.

That is all.

The game won't do well- at least when held up to the success of WoW. WoW has 4 years worth of content and refinements to fall back on. ToR? Well, EA hasn't exactly had a great reputation for paying attention to what a game needs to be released so much as making sure it's matching said release date. Let me just put it that way.

I don't doubt that it'll do well- even Everquest and Eve stay afloat with modest subscription bases. That and the fact that it's a starwars game, plus it being not WoW will draw in a fair number of people. It's whether or not they stay on that'll matter, and with the game honestly looking a LOT like WoW...I'm not entirely sure that'll be happening.

MMOs are failure prone. MMORPGs have the highest ''disappointment'' rate of any genre. Everything said here won't make a difference if Star Wars: The Old Republic as a game in itself is not up to the task. This is exacerbated by BioWare's inexperience with MMORPGs. While it looks great now, only time will tell how it really plays out.

I am contributing my money to this. I hope this turns out well.
That's why Mythic is helping them, and they've learned a lot of lessons with Warhammer Online. Here's to hoping that they actually apply those lessons and not make the same mistakes again. You know people can be.

Anyway, I'm pretty much holding my breath for this game. I'm so incredibly excited for it that I'm getting incredibly worried at the same time. The last thing I was so excited for was Spore, and look at how that turned out...

Yes, but none of them broke the maintream shell like Mass Effect did which was what I said.
Baldur's Gate series (2 games) sold 5 million copies, it is still one of the most selling RPG's to date.
Go ask a random person at a school of say the Female gender and ask then if they know what Baldur's Gate is. Yes, it is their most known RPG, but does the maintream audience know about it? As well, ask them if they know about Mass Effect and the answer will be clear. That is what I meant.

You do know that when Baldur's Gate was released gaming was still a pretty niche market, right? And are you really arguing with Box office sells about the popularity of a subject?

SC2's multiplayer can be summed up as this: Overly balanced to the brink that it falls on it's own sword and too damn competetive rather than fun.
Competition = fun, Loosing is Fun. (Good) Multiplayer games have always operated on this principle.

How fun is it when every opposition you face only try to rush your workers every game and when they fail, they leave the match because your defense around them were to strong?

I'm sorry, but that just isn't fun and that is something that happened everytime I tried SC2's multiplayer. They'd always go for the workers like a brainless cockroach.
Bronze? Learn to defend and eventually you will face people who are better than that. Oh and the workers are the most juicy target in you base, you have to protect the golden eggs.

Interesting this topic is, EA is mentioned, and a hate storm over pretty much everything spawns.

On Topic, or more so on topic: SWTOR will at the very least be an enjoyable game. It might not topple WoW, ever, and it certainly won't in the first several years. It'll sell well just based on it being "Star Wars." EA will probably make money off of it, probably not as much as they hope, but they will make money.

Fnur fnur, no.
Because competetion in SC2 is = to "Attack workers hurr hurr" no matter their rank.
So no thanks.
I see, well, continue to live in your own delusion where you are right and what you imagine is a fact. Good day to you, sir.

Good, the more chance this has of being a success the better, best to not even think about what will happen if it fails though...
