EA Delays SimCity Mac Again

Update 5 for SimCity PC will be ready in a few weeks, with Update 6 already in the works.

Apple fans willing to overlook SimCity's supposed to launch [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/122557-Electronic-Arts-Disables-Non-Critical-SimCity-Features-UPDATED] in February 2013 alongside the PC version; it eventually launched in March on the PC, with the Mac version pushed to June.

In a in Update 4 last month [http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/simcity-mac-update-and-beyond], available to those who pick up the Mac version. This adds a new region, Edgewater Bay, which has seven cities surrounding a Great Work site.

Meanwhile, PC owners who have stuck with SimCity will be treated to Update 5 "in a couple of weeks," with the patch bringing a slew of fixes and improvements. The update is "focused on improvements to Multiplayer and Multi-city Play," such as adding a filter for friends' regions, more trading control, and regional commuting. A full list of fixes can be found here [http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/simcity-mac-update-and-beyond]. Update 6 is already in the works as well, with some of the planned improvements coming from user feedback in the SimCity forums.

It's a shame that Mac owners have had to wait so long for SimCity, and after seeing what happened at the PC launch, it's hard not to be wary. The last thing EA and Maxis need is another less-than-stellar launch, those, so hopefully the delay to August will give Mac fans the SimCity experience they've been waiting for without quite so many hiccups.

Yeah, given all the shortcomings that SimCity has, I don't think that Mac players are really missing out on much by not being able to play this game.

You will get it whether you like it or not. Kinda like your vaccinations as a kid. Only this time there is no benefit to it :D

Yeah as long as none of those patches A: Increase town sizes. B: Remove the always online bullshit DRM. C: Finally get the regions working properly. D: Fix traffic. E: All of the above. You are essentially you are just throwing water on oil.

All it will do is splash up and burn you because NOBODY! is buying the next SimCity. Not after this eunuch version of a once great series was trodden out to pad your quarterly reports.

Well, might as well get the stereotypes out of the way:
Of course mac users would ask for it because you'd have to be grossly uninformed in all forms of technology to own a mac in the first place. And you can't convince them otherwise because they don't know how to do anything other than throw money at established evil corporations.

Obviously the demographic EA is still targeting is people who don't go to video game websites and just look on the box for critic ratings.

That's fine EA. I am still waiting for the promised SWTOR mac port. I can wait three years (or longer) for Sim City

It's not ready for primetime yet? The PC version isn't ready for primetime, and that didn't stop you charging people for essentially beta-testing it.

Hold on. They are delaying the Mac release on account of it not being ready, but went ahead with the PC launch despite it being completely broken and not ready at all? Could they...could they be learning?

Wait, isn't that supposed to be the entire game? Not so much "focused on" as "still trying to fix the whole thing".
