I'm all for Fox not being taken seriously, half their "news" is utter garbage. That said, watch yourself EA. It's one thing to use stupidity and ignorance in the media to your advantage, as opposed to your detriment. It's another to aim entirely for bad press and controversy to sell your games. If you cannot sell your products on their solid merits alone, you have a serious problem.

Not hard to understand the buisness prospects of this.

For every follower of the culture police theres 2 regular people who would go out of thier way to make thier lives a misery and 4 who will not listen to them.

Getting a game to at least half the people who arent polarised against it could be considered a win.

"He thought that developers shouldn't be afraid of a little controversy, as long as it wasn't "gratuitous," "

Said the head of EA Games......
WOOOOOW,
some people apparently would not notice their own hypocrisy if it came up to them and shot them in the balls, before cutting through their spine with a chainsaw.

Bad publicity is still publicity ... it just happens to be the worst kind. If it happens in the natural course of activities, so be it. But if you set out specifically to create it, the way past EA marketing campaigns have done, you're probably misdirecting your energy/resources.

And yknow, it'd be nice to see this "whatevs, fuck 'em" attitude backed up when games actually come under fire, rather than the retreat-and-placate technique EA has perfected so well.

Puff out your chest and stand your ground, goddamnit!

Can't say I disagree with a little controversey, but come on EA. Sin to win?
What? It was funny! Anyone who thought otherwise just didn't read the poster properly
watch extra credits: an open letter to EA marketing. gives a few good reasons to dislike that campaign and what it did for the games industry.
I'm guessing you didn't notice how I was on like every other thread debating against extra credits then?

EA are not the bad guys here, the marketing people do their job, we shouldn't have to not have a little fun just to please people who won't care beyond what's current anyway.

I'd be willing to accept this a lot easier if it didn't come from EA...

no, even if i did see one of your posts, i wouldn't remember it because you are just one in a sea of thousands of users who comment, i fail to see why you expect me to automatically know who you are.

i was simply pointing out something which you may not have known, rather than just type the whole video out. no need to be arsey about it.

and those people who won't care anyway, are the ones who makes the rules and laws, so we should care and try not to purposely put games in a negative light just for a little fun.

Wasn't being arsey mate, just how you read it. And no offense, but people who like games make laws too, so I doubt a company having fun is going to throw us under a bus.

And if you're gonna argue a point, i'd rather you typed out the video, I may have seen it, but at least it makes it seem like you care enough to make a point rather than seeming to just want to go "LOOK AT IT, GO ON, LOOK".

He's got a point as while Fox had no grounds to attack Bulletstorm, Duke Nukem Forever (for being sexist, not crappy, mind you), or Modern Warfare. Any points Fox may make about the new Mortal Kombat being absurdly gory is valid as it wasn't gore for immersion, but gore for gore's sake.
