The free-to-play market gives substandard games an opportunity to earn a bit of money (RF Online, for example) from something that nobody is willing to pay for. It's also a neat way for developers to take a bit of a risk and sucker people in. It's only really damaging for the big studios with obscenely bloated development costs.
