I'm just glad I didn't buy into the hype train for this game and am patiently waiting for Call of Duty Black Ops instead.
What happens if Black Ops is over hyped just like MW2?
thing is black ops has been publicly demoed and shown.
All of the core things they changed and fixed, have already been shown to us.
Some peoeple have already played the full version of the multi player.

You you waited an extra hour and got on the next hype train that entered the station? Intresting. ^^

OT: Well, at least EA is going to try to make better sequels -- not that the game was bad.

"We need to convince the market we can make something they appreciate more, particularly to be able to compete."
"convince the market"
"the market"

... the reason EA will crash and burn.

The game wasn't bad. It was enjoyable, I think. Not great, but not bad. It was OK. I enjoyed it more than Modern Warfare 2, less than Modern Warfare. It's in the middle. When you make a game thats about, lets face it, modern warfare, people will automatically and shamelessly tie it to Call of Duty, "apparently" because they did it first... *massive cough*

I, for one, am looking to Battlefield 3 for my next FPS, I am not really looking forward to anything else than that and the next TES game =3.

Are you saying Black Ops isn't hyped? In the same way Modern Warfare 2 wasn't hyped? *cough*
I never said Black Ops isn't hyped. Nor did I say MW2 wasn't hyped. But just because games are hyped, doesn't mean that I'm listening. I've looked into the game, seen many things I've liked from previous entries into the series and now I am patiently waiting for Black Ops. Treyarch has been steadily improving their game making abilities and I thoroughly enjoyed World at War and this game looks to deliver a similar experience.

I actually enjoyed MW2 and I've enjoyed Treyarch's forays into the Call of Duty Franchise so I think I'm safe.
I did too but also saw the flaws in the game. I played Too Human as well and enjoyed that greatly because I didn't listen to ANY of the hype there and without the hype it was a great game IMHO.
Then...you should know how I feel about Black Ops.

Not really. I played the multiplayer beta for MoH and it was very disappointing. The game didn't do much for me. I have yet to play Black Ops, but as I've said previously, it looks like more of what I want from a game so I'm thinking that its more of what I intend to spend my money on.

We need to make a game that can beat CoD in sales...
Sounds ideal.

EA said:
... So we're going to make a game that looks and feels almost exactly like CoD!
And this is where things went horribly wrong.

What was EA trying to do here? Were they trying to lure CoD fans to a different franchise? It seems likely, between the similar designs, the massive ad budget, and getting it on store shelves a month ahead of Black Ops.

It would seem they've failed. Activision has made very effort to remind CoD fans that Black Ops is just around the corner, and there can be no doubt that the sales of MoH have suffered as a result.

It's pretty cringe-worthy when a publisher results to desperate comments like this.

What's more is how early they've done it. MoH could still have been a sleeper hit, but these comments will likely hit sales even more as it turns more people away.

If it wasn't up-to-par, why did they release it?

I haven't purchased it yet, I plan to wait until a price drop, but I did play the multiplayer Beta. I felt the multiplayer was Battlefield Bad Company 2.5. The fact that there are basically two games (multiplayer on frostbite, singleplayer on Unreal) in this really took away from it.

The more EA talk about MoH the more they sound like the parent of a fat, cross eyed kid who just came last at sports day.
This is a beautiful statement and right on the nose.

OT: I figured that this game was going to be "edgy", but in a fun and interesting way. In retrospect, this is one of the most cliche' and predictable games to ever have come out. You add linear and boring to the equation and are left with EA caught with their pants down. They realized all the could do was to hype it up only to give the, "Aww, shucks. We gave it our best guys, that's gotta be worth something" bullshit after it's release.

They did give it their best to make a Modern Warfare clone. They failed though. Very, very hard. In order to surpass a game, one must be innovative and fresh, not a lesser rip off.

The single player in the new MoH was awesome because it had great atmosphere, shame that it was kinda short.

raghhhhh

This makes no sense

"MOH didnt reach our quality expectation"

THEN WHY DID YOU BLOODY RELESE IT!!!

I would have a lot more respect for game designers if they put there ha nds up and said

"yeah ok we were wrong, we thought this would work but it didnt, we will try somthing new next time"

Instead they just fuck around coming up with stupid excuses like this

....i havent played the game so i cant say weather it was good or bad, but making a game so similer to COD? and relesing it right into the Black ops marketing hype?

Certainly some bad moves there, the only thing i can think of is that the marketing department hoped to cash in on long time MOH fans (lets face it frontline was the shit!!!) and over exited COD Fanboys

Did they not PLAY the multiplayer?! DICE are so overstretched that they forced out this piece of shit, straining so hard they nearly blew a vessel. There are about 11 guns for the Multiplayer, though that number may be wrong because of how little I've played the damn thing lately.
Danger Close should've handled the Multiplayer as well as the Singleplayer, cos the guns were good, the stance system worked well, the sound effects were awesome and the level designs were BIG.

FFS DICE, do you think a map (or two) that you can fit on the screen just by zooming out slightly is big enough?!

Frankly they should have waited another year on releasing this, giving more time to think about what they could do to set it apart from other modern day shooters. EA has Battlefield to still carry the torch in the meantime, there really wasn't any reason to rush this. Everything said in this article shows they acted way too rashly.
Garak73 said:
Wonder why they didn't say that at launch? Surely they knew at launch that it didn't meet their quality expectations.
That would have been suicide on their part, as when people would have heard that, they would figure it isn't worth their $50 to $60

This is the battlecry of someone backing themselves into a corner.

He even said at the very beginning "Oh, it wasn't up to our standards" but kept making excuses for that and saying "the team was really great".

And I'm sorry, but saying all that then saying, and I fucking quote, "...I'm not at all saying Medal of Honor is a failure. It is a successful reboot of that franchise..." makes you look like an idiot, because the gaming public says otherwise (That it's a successful reboot, that is). And your comment at the very start seems purely hypocritical.
