EA now issuing permanent Origin bans through content filter

This is why I don't purchase EA products anymore. In following with Jim Sterling's episode about boycotting, EA is a company that absolutely needs to be boycotted into non-existence. The EA-Nazi comparison is pretty old at this point, but it's taken on a startling new relevance with this whole Origin thing.

How goes it so far buddy? I'm sure that this situation does indeed ruin a gentleman's evening... Glad I avoid the EA forums.

I want to prove, on top of the content filter being glitchy, that anyone can be framed, just by having a few people hitting the report button on inoffensive posts, but to do so I'd have to frame someone. :\

Who wants to *potentially* sacrifice an account for 72 hours, possibly for life, in order to test this?

This would, properly documented, make a world-famous blog or news site entry. Proof that if you play BF3 and a few people don't like you, you can be "terminated and suspended".

DICE's community manager on Reddit is ignoring my PMs.

Why, crash7800, why?!

EDIT: started a new BF3 subreddit about this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield3/comments/n04lb/i_was_forum_banned_and_cut_off_from_bf3/

I need upvotes.. for some reason any post on reddit about these bans, by me or others, gets about 50% downvotes, more than any other topic. Suspicious.

well, since I found so many other people who had similar things happen to them, I've decided to start a website about it and give them a public voice.

www.EAstolemyBF3.com - keep watching, I'll have forums and a portal up soon

small claims court!
It's only $160 to file in my locality. They'll try to claim that I'm subject to binding arbitration but there's way around that. Also they'll still spend thousands flying a lawyer out to me.

Strongly considering this option along with documenting the saga.
Most of the claims people bring against game companies are settled out of court specifically because they'd rather refund your $85 than spend thousands to fly a lawyer out.

If you still need someone, i'm up for it.

Solution: don't post on useless Origin forums.
I'm thinking that it's a better solution to not buy EA's games in order to discourage that sort of business practice.

What you have there is more of a workaround, really.

Yeah. Avoiding Origin until EA unlinks the forum/game bans. I haven't gotten banned from anywhere, to the best of my knowledge thus far. I have been a power tripping mod though. It sounds way to hard to get CS to reverse them to risk games on forum bans.

Next year, wanna bet EA will be making more console exclusives because 'pc gaming is dying'? :p

I own 1 game that actually requires Origin to install which was Alice - Madness Returns, so my lack of being able to play it does not bother me at all.

I really hope EA gets of this fucking high horse and sees that banning people from their accounts because of shit that happens on the forums is a little of the limit.

Let them, any publisher that wants to treat their customers in that way is not welcome to have a product on my computer.
But than again I think these publishers forget that unlike myself, I think most people are multi-platform gamers. So if you piss off enough pc gamers eventually you are going to start hitting the console market too.

Funny thing is though:
Even console/ios/etc gamers are going to get screwed by forum posts. Origin is just EA Online/EA accounts/EA Store, etc brought under 1 umbrella of turd. So if someone goes and acquires a magical EA ban then it should in theory ban them from the EA games that have a sign in.

The console forums on battlelog are FAR WORSE than the PC ones, seriously its one hell of a sewer there, anyone who thought OP's post on the battlelog forums was flamebait then just wow when you see that one. I just wonder how many console gamers have fallen prey to EA's banhammer and not known how to do anything about it.

Its also worth noting that EA is making an increased push to console manufacturers to get Origin on their platforms, especially the Wii U where they want to RUN the online. Imagine that, you get banned because someone swears at you and that nice shiny Wii U you bought you suddenly can't go online on.

Hi just wanted to say I've registered just because I'm that shocked by what I've read here I want to show some sort of support at least. I saw this on Bungie.net off topic forum first and then came here through the link there. It seems that what EA are doing here is outright theft. I am seriously considering boycotting EA from now on, even though I didn't buy much of their stuff in the first place, and never used their forums.

I called EA Support this morning. Aaron was suspended for using vulgar language on multiple occasions, and was warned repeatedly to cease such behavior. EA warned him twice on November 17, and then again on December 2 before finally issuing a 72 hour suspension. He wasn't suspended by some filter malfunction or for comments made by others, he was suspended for stuff he did over the past few weeks.

Don't feel one bit sorry for you. It's your fault you registered on EA's forums. Its' your fault your running around the internet like a cat being chased by a vacuum cleaner screaming for attention and support. And its' your fault you can't man up and keep this private instead fo the following. Which would help expedite the process GREATLY because EA wouldn't be pulling damage control for your little hissy fit and label your issue to be done "with all due speed". Next time you register for those forums make sure the only posts you make are constructive.

That said EA/Origin can lick my sweaty balls. GO RZR1911 and their Origin free BF3 bypass!

If this is true, is anyone else disturbed that an unconnected third party can contact EA Support and be given this information?
