SWEET! And decent looking RTS for the PS3. Now if they only will implement K&M controls all will be well.

And just to preempt the PC people, we all ready know you will get it on the PC. WHO CARES. Piss off. I like my PS3 a lot. ANd besides, it looks like the native 1080p and Blu Ray will provide extra stuff gor the devs to create extra goodies that will most likely be exclusive.

Promises to 'do some really cool things' with 1080p resolution and extra Blu-Ray space.

The previously "on hold" PS3 version of RTS Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is back on, with EA promising to do "some really cool things" that make the most of the 1080p resolution and extra space Blu-Ray and PS3 provides.

Red Alert 3, the first Red Alert game in seven years, is out now for PC with a 360 version due on November 14. Although the game was originally announced for PS3 as well, EA confirmed that version was "on hold" back in June, with EA Los Angeles producer Amer Ajami later telling us that Sony's console is "very exotic and tough to develop for".

However, producer and C&C TV presenter David Silverman confirmed to VideoGamer.com that development on the PS3 version of Red Alert 3 is back on and there's "definitely people working" on it.

He said: "When we announced Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 we announced there was a PS3 version, then we decided to go on the record and say that we've suspended it to make sure that RA3 was able to come out to the level of quality that it must adhere to to be called a C&C game. We've hit that mark, we've shipped the game. And you know what that means? That means there's another version left to be had. So there's definitely people working on a PS3 version and we'll be talking more about that later."

While Silverman wouldn't commit to a release date, he did say that PS3 owners will be "very pleased" if they bide their time.

"If you're a PS3 owner and you don't own a PC and you don't have an Xbox 360 you don't have to write on your Christmas or Hanukkah list that you want to have an Xbox," he said. "You can play Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, bide your time and you'll be very pleased. We're looking at doing some really cool things with the PS3 version. Since it is shipping later we're putting in a lot of cool content and really taking advantage of both the 1080p nature and the high-defness of Blu-Ray and also the fact that it can hold just so much more space."

Ah, but how will the control system be? The last C&C RTS on a console (Number 3 and expansion, as I recall) had a pretty annoying control system as is generally the way with console RTS's. If they can't give it accessibility and ease of use, then it'll be yet another nail in the proverbial coffin of console RTS's until they finally adopt a keyboard+Mouse system.

People will quote this and point to Tom Clancy's EndWar. To which I respond: The voice control thing sucked. I'm sorry, but it was consistently glitchy when I tried to use it mistaking one command for another in a similar way repeatedly.

Thumbs up to EA if they make it work, however I don't think anyone would fault me for being incredibly apprehensive about the success of the PS3 version, "cool things" or not.

RTS on consoles just sucks, sorry.
Star Craft on PlayStation did not suck actually, sorry. It can be done right.

Will it really be running at native 1080p? Interesting but i still wouldn't buy it.
The dev in the interview seems to be stressing the 1080p nature of the PS3. So yah, I think it just might.

RTS games are like FPS games-- they just demand to be played on a computer rather than a console. However, I like the flexibility of being able to be played on both 360 and PS3. And from what I've heard, the controls for Kane's Wrath on the 360 (the expansion to C&C3) were actually really good.

I find it both funny and stupid that one of the things they are stressing is the 1080p of the PS3. Kinda forgetting that PC users already have access to cheap-enough higher-than-1080p resolutions, and as such this is not a selling point really, just makes PC users scratch their heads and go "what?"

Meh I'm not buying it for either. Was on the beta and it fealt a bit hollow for me.

"really taking advantage of both the 1080p nature and the high-defness of Blu-Ray"

Sounds like marketing bullshit, PCs have been "hi def" for years, the game won't look any better than the PC version unless they are just shoving in higher resolution cutscreens due to the space on a blu-ray disc.

But anyway I played the first c&c on the playstation and it worked well enough so I doubt RA3 will be any different.

Thanks. And yet they persist in coming here to rag on Console and console games. I just don't get it.

Can you tell me a game on a PC that is in native 1080p+ resolution? Just wondering.

I love the way you post flamebait for pc users then complain when they get baited.

Also; last time I checked the ps3 had 4 (count 'em four) USB slots. Maybe someone could put two of them to good use and let people use a M+K set up?

Give it keyboard and mouse support, and I will give it a shot. RTS with a gamepad is very meh.

Alot of games outside of EA's staple of releases gave up having fixed limits on resolution years ago. These days with most games if your graphics card can display at it, and your monitor can support it, you can get 1920x1200 resolution. Which, coincidently, is better than 1080p (1920x1080).

And before you say PC's will struggle with that, we have had so called High Def since monitors started producing images above 720x576 (standard European format, higher in resolution to NTSC American) and graphics cards able to match for just as long. Anyone here actually remember when the first 1024x768 monitor was released?

I'm sorry, I play on both PC's and Consoles. I own many variations of the latter infact. But when you make a comment about PC gaming, actually know what the hell you are talking about ok?

And no this is not a rant about how PC hardware is more powerful. The games matter, not what they are being run on.

And one more thing, on contrary to popular belief not all PC gamers are console-haters. Maybe think about that.

Quoted for the truth, I love my PC games, but I also have a 360, Wii, and PS3. I also get enjoyment from all of them. :x

Same here.

Except for the Wii. It blows.

Funny enough the Wii does get the least amount of use around here. Still has a few games on it that I have had fun with though.

Stop talking your magic "logic" Decoy. You know it has no place on the intertubes.

Most likely they will stuff the bonus material and the ost on the game disc. The stuff they charged pc users $20 extra for. And then wonder aloud why there's so much piracy here.

Revenge for all the "meh it itsn't out on my console so it sucks" spam in every single crysis/witcher/galciv/most rts games threads.

You only need a mouse/keyboard for RTS if you don't design the game to actually work on a pad. I think Endwar will put an end to this particular mythology. It's not like you really need to aim in an rts, so you hardly need the advantage a mouse gives you in terms of accuracy
