How the hell are PS3 users suppose to enjoy Mass Effect 2 without importing there save game from Mass Effect 1?

Either this rumor is crap, or they will also port Mass Effect 1. There is no way the will only port Mass Effect 2 since doing so would make no sense.
You don't need ME1 saves to enjoy ME2. They said ME2 can be played as if it was an entirely new game.

The problem though, as you mentioned, is that, yeah, you'd be missing out on a ton of cool stuff if you didn't play the first game. It's not essential, but still...

At any rate, I'd be glad if the Mass Effect franchise came to another console, because it's quite frankly a really great franchise that everyone should get a chance to play. I liked it so much I even purchased the two Mass Effect novels.

But yeah, if this is true, then it would be wise of them to also port over ME1.

If false...What a disappointment.

Not sure if my PC can handle ME2, it handled ME1 though, so it'd be nice to be able to play it on my PS3. Don't know how well I'd handle it; I suck at FPSs when I'm not using a mouse and keyboard

But why should anyone want to play a game where you are just suddenly thrown into a universe where everything around you is a result of something that happened in the last game with there being no way to understand the universe you are in or the characters around you properly without playing the first game first?

Ashly: Well hi there Shepard!
Shepard: Huh?
What, you think Bioware didn't plan for this? If you create a new character in ME2, you will reveal your own background story through the game's plot (probably through a series of questions and 'what will you do' scenarios).

You won't be thrown into the universe without any knowledge at all. There will be plenty of stuff that will reveal how everything works. Even in the first game, you were thrown into a spaceship where everyone already knew who you were, and they assumed you knew who they were too. Like a novel, you pick up details through conversations and the-like.

Otherwise, it's like saying anyone that did not read the first Mass Effect novel will have no idea what's going on in Mass Effect, which is wrong.

I do agree with you that you're missing out big time if you don't have not played ME1, but it's not actually necessary at all.

Well see this is a sign that people should be switching over to the clearly superior consoles (PC and 360)
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH

But seriously, I don't really care if ME2 is coming to the Ps3 or not. It's just another title I could get on the PC if I wanted. Better yet, I could play another game, since I'm not a big fan of ME.

Always good news though, maybe then I'll get it on the PS3 instead of the PC.

PS3 Mass Effect? No more borrowing someone's 360 to play a western RPG? Oh God, I think I'm going to sing. ::Makes cooing sounds:: Now I can stop the eternal slog of my current playthroughs and just start over from scratch.

It's EA. They know they'd get more money by releasing them seperately.
True, but Mass Effect sells for like $20 nowadays, so they wouldn't get much more.
