Just had a chance to check out the EA UFC demo that's now available on both the PS4 and Xbox One. It's sadly not quite as good as I hoped it would be and given that the full game comes out in just a few days I doubt there will be a huge difference between the demo and the title at launch.

The game looks great in motion and the clinch and ground systems are very nicely articulated. Submissions aren't easy to execute or escape and they thankfully don't use any sort of button mashing or blatant QTE system.

My biggest issues with the game are actually found in the striking which you'd think would be the easier thing to get right. There are a decent variety of strikes to execute but they don't really flow together very well. It looks choppy/janky and just not very natural. The worst part, though, is the impact or total lack thereof. Even the heaviest of blows elicits just a barely there slapping sound and barely any reaction from your opponent. It's actually almost difficult to tell at times if your strike even connected. Maybe if you really work an opponent or if you have a very skilled striker against someone who's bad at striking defense it might make a difference but I doubt it from what I've experienced.

Anyone else check out the demo? Anyone actually interested in the full game?

I really want this game, but I haven't bought either an X1 or PS4 yet. After checking out all the gameplay vid, I figure it'd be closer to UFC Undisputed than EA Sport's previous entry EA MMA, which is a good thing.

That's strange, it has a fairly good sound effects judging from this gameplay video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8O4koNMKXU
I suppose the lack of hit reactions is to keep the consistent flow to the combat and to keep the game going a bit longer, because normally you'd want gamers to be able to throw more attacks in these sort of games than in real life.

Seems just like the last UFC game. With more silly pop up submission crap that was nigh-universally despised in UFC3 instead of the perfectly functional system from 2010. They do seem a little jerky in striking, and the pace seems slowed (also in the wrestling transitions). There's no clinch stuff in that video, so I couldn't tell if you the massive clinch-spam is still a factor (guess I'll go find the demo).

Amusingly, Dana White tried to offer EA UFC originally, then went on a giant tear when they turned him down, then made their own EA MMA after UFC:Undisputed. Literally said he'd never make a game with them, or hire any fighter who appeared in theirs. Guess money talks eh.
