I find it very hard to believe that game companies cant force certain stores to actually get some games out on time, not too early, and not too late.
I really want to play Bayonetta, but then i see people already have it due to Wal-Mart, as always, getting the game early, occasionally Best Buy, but they dont have the game yet surprisingly.
Since i dont live near a Wal-Mart, its very frustrating to see others enjoy it, yet i have to wait until January 5th for it.
Is it so hard to release games on time?

No, but just cause you can't get it early doesn't mean others can't. I know that kinda sounded assholish but it's the truth. Life sucks doesn't it?

Does it make your enjoyment of the game any less?

I don't see what the big deal is. It would just make me more hyped to play it.

What would happen if someone you knew got a game, that you wanted, early and said it was the worst game ever so don't buy it? It may have it's upsides it seems.

This means more reviews and more time for you to (possibly) cancel your pre-order.
Sure you have to wait but I waited for the God of war collection and now I'm getting a God of war ultimate trilogy collection.

Retailers want money. If they start selling a game before all the other retailers, they likely get more sales.

The only way for publishers to stop them selling early is to stop the early-retailers stocking their game by not giving them any copies next time, but that could likely end in less money trickling back to the publisher as well, which they don't want.

I'm a Blizzard fan. I don't pay attention to release dates anymore. I just wait until there are the 1 month/2 week advance boxes on shelves. That's how I found out ME2 was coming out soon. I thought it was pegged for mid 2010, turns out it's end of January.

Reminds me of the time when I was waiting for Fable 2 to come out. I went to K-Mart on a Thursday night (7 days before its release) and asked if they had it in stock and the guy actually searched the back to see if they had any copies. Unfortunately they didn't. Next day I found out K-Mart had sold a shit load of copies to people because they didn't know about the actual release date, and apparently weren't going to receive their stock of Gears of War 2 until a couple weeks after it comes out so they won't sell it early.
