So I just got the 'best' ending in SMTIV today. Without wishing to spoil anything, while a major portion of it was obscure enough to almost certainly require a guide I still found it immensely satisfying in terms of challenge and accomplishment (all of the final bosses/dungeons from the other endings plus quite a bit more besides). I felt like I, along with the beleagued people of the country the game takes place in, had finally climbed out of a long, dark pit after 100+ hours of effort and many, many, many deaths.
In terms of challenge to access and satisfaction (particularly in comparison to the other endings), what is your favourite 'best' ending in a multi-ending game? And if you can't think of any, what sort of 'perfect' ending battle/cutscene would you like to see included in a favourite game of yours?

It got me thinking about other 'best' endings I'd seen that required much more work/knowledge to reach than any other, but also make it feel worth your while. 100% doodad collection is a popular one, but more satisfying would be the addition of a 'true' final boss. From what I hear, many of the MegaTen series and its spinoffs such as Persona 4 are like this, and I feel that they would be much the lesser for not having an elusive best ending that saves all those who would otherwise perish in previous attempts (Breath of Fire II), or exposes the villain who got away every other time (Lots of Kirby games).
